Carolina Horsepower Shootout Question

Would you guys be willing to race in an event like this. Again its very little money, its just something to have fun with while we are at the track.

Rules:

Any car is allowed.

Any device that aids in achieving a prearranged or programmed elapsed time, such as a timer device, or stutter box, or 2 or 3-step type of device must be removed from the vehicle during qualifying and eliminations. Foot braking only. Line-loc permitted.

This will be an index race ( Closest average of 2 runs without going under)

10.0 index
9.0 index
8.0 index
7.0 index
Fastest on CHP index

15 dollars to enter. You name what index you are running for, 10 dollars of your money will be in the pot for that index, and the other 5 goes to the pot for the fastest on CHP. Closest average time per index wins the pot for that index.

Please give me some feedback or suggestions if you are interested.

chrisheltra 03-25-2008 09:51 PM

Im down!

I think with my times lately I could win the 8.0 index with Ricks tune. lol

05Saleen 03-25-2008 10:03 PM

Don't forget about break outs. If you go faster than your time (In your rules). Sounds like fun.

I didn't plan on a break out, unless the majority wants it. If your 2 runs are 7.1 and 6.9 than your average is 7.0, and you would win the 7.0 index.

dkbmxer002 03-25-2008 10:16 PM

wow.... no trans brakes?

Mike 03-25-2008 10:20 PM

Now that I think about it a trans brake should be allowed.

I just copied that paragraph from a rulebook that I thought would prevent people from using electronics to dial in their E.T. But that rule was more set up for a bracket race than a index race :)

Since we will only be racing the clock, Reaction Time will not help anyone.

Chillerman 03-25-2008 10:54 PM

I like how this sounds. I might be interested as well. If I keep running 7.90's or better, I'll have to figure out how to go 8.0's.

LXtasy 03-25-2008 10:57 PM

What? No 13.0 index. lol

dkbmxer002 03-25-2008 11:12 PM

ahhh cool. :D

SWThomas 03-26-2008 08:26 AM

Sounds cool.

1iron 03-26-2008 08:29 AM

I'm in. I like the foot brake rule. Because I don't have a Transbrake. I guess its 7.0 for me.

Paul

Darryl Buckner 03-26-2008 09:21 AM

I wouldn't win anything, because I would probably be the only one going for 6.0....

Darryl Buckner 03-26-2008 09:23 AM

I guess I could lift and go for the 7.0, where there is more people.

Two words. Throttle stop.

Sounds like fun to me. At least we can get a group from here all together for a race.

Maybe at a later time, you can set up a bracket race for everyone. Darryl would surely be the favorite in that.

DolSVT00 03-26-2008 10:37 AM

I could probably run one of rick's tunes and run the 8.0 class

Yeh, go ahead and run that tune, and while you're at it, order that new BTS transmission. Hahahaha

DolSVT00 03-26-2008 11:36 AM

Too true, I guess I'll just add some weight and run the street tune.

08 Racecraft 03-26-2008 12:24 PM

I'll run the 10 if turtle and EZ03 will run.We had fun last year

slowgreen99 03-26-2008 02:09 PM

.

Darryl, ill run the 6.0 class with ya. See if we can get some more people for that class to make the pot at least $50. O yea, ill be starting at the 330. Hope to see ya there!

Dave 03-26-2008 03:39 PM

I need to do a few things to my CRX to get closer to the 10's, that's $20 in the 10.0 index, any other takers?

I would be game if I could get halftrack leave.

Dave 03-26-2008 05:38 PM

ur S-10's got to be faster then that, don't you have a SB 350 in there? JK, is it a v6 or i4? if it's a i4 I would understand if it's that slow, you don't think Mike could add a 11.0 index, I would be better off laying up a little to get it closer to 11's then trying to put a couple hundred bones into getting my front end camber'd and buying slicks, but then again I need to get that junk fixed before I go through another set of tires in a couple hundred miles.

Darryl Buckner 03-26-2008 05:48 PM

I guess I can use a block of wood, or tie wrap to go into the 7.0, Mike mentioned nothing about those things only electronic aids.:)

Mike 03-26-2008 05:54 PM

Maybe we will completely get rid of the 6.0 index, and make all cars faster than 7.0 race heads up all out for the title of fastest on the site. All participants (in every index) can add 5 dollars to their entry fee to go towards the purse of that class.

The one in my avatar has the slowest motor out of all motors known to man 2.2. Has K&n and dynomax muffler. BUT pulling the heavy 18's. Suspension etc.

Next vehicle I am getting will get the v8 swap in it.

We already know who the fastest is on the site and I think he posted right before you.:cheers

LXtasy 03-26-2008 07:25 PM

Chris. Stop lying. His shit is slow. He knows right now my truck will walk the dog crap out of that car.

He can't push it fast enough. :D

LOL

WTFWSAT 03-26-2008 08:18 PM

Im in if i ever get my stuff back together! Ill be shooting for the 6.0 index, hopfully i can give Darryl a good run :cheers

Slowleen 03-27-2008 09:13 AM

hmmm if i run street tires then i could go 9.0 index...Dr's and i'll shoot for the 8.5 index you dont have lol

91notch 03-27-2008 09:37 AM

I'm down when i get my car put back together. How soon are you looking at setting this up mike? I'll be shooting for the 6.0 index as well ;)

Darryl Buckner 03-27-2008 10:02 AM

I don't think I am the fastest, due to the fact I have no idea what my car will do, hell its not even drivable yet. There are a couple of other projects going on here, that should be a little faster, I believe, if done right.:)

Darryl Buckner 03-27-2008 10:05 AM

My car is what I like to call "Too fat to fly"

1BAD4DR 03-27-2008 01:21 PM

When is this taking place? That will depend on whether i will be able to make it or not????

Magoo 03-27-2008 09:46 PM

I'd be down, sounds like fun.....

1BAD4DR 03-27-2008 09:51 PM

So for an extra 5 bucks you can be claimed the fastest of the index that you are in? Or just the fastest for the site?

Dave 03-27-2008 10:09 PM

Yup, that's what I'm thinking, for us that can't even dream of getting close to the fastest on the site, it will be a donation from us. I think it's a good idea b/c we know we all really want to know who the fastest is, and I think we should make it a weekend where everyone that can compete in that class can make it to the track or maybe do two different weekends? Just my two cents.
