How to catch a softball.
First practice session this year, Short was throwing to first, I was waiting my turn to catch at first, decided to return some of the balls along the fence, I guess i forgot where I was, but as i was throwing the ball home, First base missed another catch from the cannon on our team (+70mph). I didn't even see it, bounced off my eye socket, i fell to my knee, filled my glove full of blood. Then started talking trash to whoever through and missed it. I lost vision in my eye for 4 hours, it's still blurry but optomoligist says everything will return to 100% in due time
Besides the 20 some stitches, fractured orbital and nose. they will put me under to fix them both. Decided to post up since I now know that everything is going to be ok. Asked for someone to snap a pic before the ambulance arrived http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...rx7/null-5.jpg Arrival at the ER, got right in off the ambulance. http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m62/carlrx7/null.jpg Stitched up. fucking numbing shot hurt more than the fucking softball! http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...rx7/null-1.jpg Finally home. http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...rx7/null-2.jpg selfie next morning http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...2b5f4792f0.jpg today: http://i101.photobucket.com/albums/m...rx7/null-4.jpg stitches come out tomorrow. Doc said the glasses did all the external damage, but protected the eye ball itself, a trade im willing to accept. I'm just fortunate it didn't hit me in my tempel or between the eyes. Enjoy! -Carl |
Damn Carl! Glad you are ok though.

Damn it son! I know that shit had to hurt a little. Hope you get back to normal soon.

FYI, that little ointment they give you, use it like you brush your teeth and you will never see a scar, trust me i cut my face above my eye, my nose, lip, and chin and i know im ugly but you cant see any scars

Damn ya'll need a new first baseman. Good that it will heal up.

WOW......crazy shit man. I had the same surgery from a baseball accident, playing catcher, runner decided to come in high and use his elbow as a battering ram and took me down.....no fun.
Hope you heal up nice. It's a pretty routine surgery, should be fine. Good luck. |
I threw a baseball many years ago that a guy missed and hit a guy in his eye socket. His was a little worse though. His eyeball was just hanging out. Get better soon.

Carl, glad you're ok. |
Take 1000 iu of vitamin e as well, helps it heal with minimal scaring. I recently learned how not to punch a wall with your head. Hope you feel better, that's nuts.
