My truck at track....slower than brandon

Here ya go. 1st night out. All shakedown passes. Trying to get it to launch without bogging or wheelspin. Couldn't get the power to the ground. So hence why the rear end and suspension is being worked on.

Video only shows partial as the rest is a waste of time and would make it a 3 hour video of the slow runs. It is slow. It is not fast. Working on getting it faster without using shit parts. If you got a problem with not seeing it run its slow maiden voyages than eat another dick . :cheers

Sorry if it doesn't meet your standards. But I don't give a rats ass. Building it to have fun. Not to be a grudgeracer by any means. The truck is a project for some of us to enjoy.

Btw, transmission is leaking after that night. Which I will fix it before it goes out again. But that is not a priority right now. We need to get the truck moving in 1st gear instead of just falling on its face. Truck seems faster on the street. But we are not setting it up to street race.

DolSVT00 09-18-2008 10:57 PM

Why would you trailer it all the way to Bowman to run it on the dragstrip?

1998ta__1991rs 09-18-2008 10:58 PM

u need either less tire or more gear

LXtasy 09-18-2008 11:01 PM

For the following

1. Breakage of parts. (long way to push back home)
2. Have towpig and trailer at disposal to do such a thing
3. Had friends that wanted to go and we all piled in the towpig
4. Gas mileage is not ideal on my black truck
5. A/c in towpig
6. Because we can :D:cheers

Going 9 inch with a 4.56 gear. Running a 28" tall mt drag radial.

Other items are being addressed also. Like heads, cam, intake , and a set of "caltracs" knockoffs. Still on stock leaves with no traction devices.

Took the truck out to get a feel of it at the track and found the problem areas to adjust. i.e. rear gear and traction devices.

LXtasy 09-18-2008 11:05 PM

Cutting 2.1-2.4 (I think that was the max) on the 60 foot.

Was trapping mid 80's. Slowest being 79.xx as it was first pass .

No nitrous passes that night. Hell, I don't even have the entire kit hooked up right now.

I do beleive we could offer better advice than that as seen demonstrated here I saw em on an infomercial lastnite garunteed to make you accelerate faster.

LXtasy 09-18-2008 11:09 PM

Hell I am game. But of course (insert excuse) it will have to wait until changes are made. As my truck sits it will be like shooting fish in a barrel.

Got them ready to finish being hooked up. Rather get the suspension and gearing dialed in first. :D Can't do shit without getting it planted and not wheelhopping like a mother. Was actually surprised that the rear held together with as much axle hop and wheel hop it got.

be careful that you don't end up with the wrong gear when you go to shoot it.

LXtasy 09-19-2008 05:00 PM

I am either eyeing 4.30 or 4.56. Probably a 4.56 gear though. Thinking of getting a progressive controller though. Or (if the moons align and everything is setup and worth a shit) I will just HOLD ON for the ride.

79bluebird 09-19-2008 05:45 PM

well get to it and get the rear done

Thats a lot of gear for that thing. We have a 4.56 in the chevelle. But it turns 7,000 rpm has a powerglide and a overdrive. And it really doesnt need it. It had a 4.11 in it and I had to change the gears. I had just put the powerglide in so I thought it would run better with a 4.56. It ran the same thing. Did not pick up at all. If you have a 350 trans I think a 3.73 or a 4.11 at the most would be better. If you plan on running Nitrous It really doesnt need it. Just my 2 cents.

i agree- 4:56 way too much for a nitrous setup unless you are going to turn it 8000 and you can forget the 1/4 mile

LXtasy 09-19-2008 11:04 PM

Well, here is the thing. Going 9". 4.56 is for 1/8th mile. Currently have a 700rpos but mostly going to go 350 here soon (with new internals built to our specs etc). Motor can safely turn over 6k, but with my 28's on it now we might do the 4.11. But I have been thinking of 31's and other items for the rear. But we shall see. I have to lay it all out with the "build price" of everything first.

wade w 09-19-2008 11:12 PM

Is it going to be a track only truck? The gearvendor went out in the car once and damn was that a long ride home. Either way I really dont think you will gain anything with a 4.56. But its your truck. You do what makes you happy.

LXtasy 09-20-2008 08:58 AM

Wade. My truck sees about much street use as your truck.........j/k But seriously. I hardly drive the truck on the street. Mainly to my parents house to tinker with it and that is it. I still have the same gas in the truck from a month ago.

wade w 09-22-2008 08:32 PM

Yea the gas in the Lightning is over a year old. :hide:
