215 on a DRAG RADIAL!!!
On a mutha fucking DR!!!
It appears as testing has went well for Dwayne and crew today. With a Job Spetter tune Gutridge ran a insane 215.72 mph. The other incrementals were not too shabby either. The one area that will need to be improved upon is the sixty foot time which came in at 1.30. The power of the 390 cubic inch small block came to life at the 330 clocks running a 4.79 at nearly 160 mph. Once BD gets a better 60-foot this ride is going deep 6's for sure and that's no joke. http://www.streetlegaltv.com/forum/b....html#post4256 |
on 7 and a half cylinders
|
There are lots of cars that would have already run in the 6's if they could get the car to front half. That's alot of power to try to get to the ground without wheelie bars. Most of these big time radial guys are making 2000 or more horsepower at the end of the track.
|
There was a discussion on yellow bullet about this and big daddy had some doubt about the mph . But no doubt Big Daddy is back in the game and running some killer ET's .

he is definately badass but also one of the most arrogant people in drag racing.....pretty annoying if you ask me.....hope to get me some big daddy this year. |
David Hance went 219 or some crazy shit like that today.

with the 114mm and the 315 radial i am suppose to be. time will tell i guess. they are reaching some pretty unsafe speeds at this point though. the drag radial cars are heavy. can you imagine a crash in one of these heavy ass cars at those speeds? your on the edge on a radial to begin with. I hate to say it, but i predict someone getting hurt real bad or killed this year in a 1/4 mile radial race. they need to keep that shit to 1/8th mile. |

the weight of the cars+ the speeds that they are running is just simple physics. alot of people have the same opinion i do, but there are also some die hard 1/4 mile guys that don't agree. i hope that it doesn't take someone getting killed for it to be looked at very hard. everyone thought this new chassis cert was going to be the problem solver but i can tell you that it is nothing but a couple extra bars in the back of the car. i don't see it doing too much in a 200mph crash. |
i will go ahead and tell you now too- i have rarely found times when i was nervous enough to lift in the 1/8th mile (new car might change that) but i will be damned if i am going to do some of the stupid shit i have done in the past and take a chance of wadding my shit up at 200+mph.

I hear ya man

Wes, what is eta on your car?

Update-
David Hance just went 223mph. |
Where are these guys doing this at?
Nice MPH's by all although I can see the safety hazards. |
They are in Bradenton. Testing for US Street Nationals this weekend.
I talked to ProLine today (incase you didn't know, he has proline power) and they said he had to pedal the car and still went a 7.04 at 223-224mph. Crazy stuff. |

Good luck and god speed. |

it won't be me thats killed because i will draw a line when it needs to be drawn. I have a wife and 2 boys and that is most important. My interest has always been 1/8th mile anyway, so i might sit out the 1/4 mile stuff. Another update- Hance went 4.70 at 180mph in the 1/8th on his last pass. That is craizier to me then his 1/4 mile MPH. I also saw where he posted that the car is on edge on the big end of the 1/4 mile and he was a little nervous to get back in the car. That says a whole lot right there, the man also drives a damn ProMod. |

yep, thats fu*ked up when you start testing your car, do you need to go to a track near proline and they will help sort it out? i'm so interested in this, i would love to see and hear the thought process involved in sorting out these types of cars |

part of my deal with ProLine is that they are going to tune the car. Specifically, Steve Petty will tune the car. That's a pretty big deal to me because from what i understand he charges $1000 a day to tune. He is argueably the best turbo tuner in the world, and i get him for free. (well, i guess i paid dearly for him, but he doesn't show up on an invoice) As far as the chassis- Sheppard will tune on it. They will come to every race with me, and that doesn't cost me anything either. They have also helped me with the build- I hesitate to use the word "sponsor", but i guess that's what they are. They have given me about $10,000 in labor at this point and gotten me about $5000 in free parts. It's really not all that complicated. It's getting close to a very involved program, but it's not quite on that level. I cannot afford to race a class that you actually have to have a full time crew, etc. If i had no help from anyone, i could pull it off by myself, and that's what i wanted. Tim Lynch, Brad Brand, Jeff Paulk, Todd Berry and those guys do track rentals at Commerce pretty regular and i have been invited to join them, so i guess that is where i will go. What a wealth of info that will be. |
ALOT of big names lol, wes cant wait to see the car run! i was just looking at the videos on prolines main page and those are some of the baddest rides ive EVER seen

i have been to the US STREET NATIONALS couple years ago and it was overwhelming to me. there were rigs there that top fuel teams wished they could afford. more pit crew guys than i could count |

sure- but i require a one time team membership enrollment fee of $2500.00 |
Do you take check? Free room and board? Cover cost of time away from normal job? Cover the cost of travel expenses? Crew apparel covered? Massages paid for after every big win?
That is just some of the gray areas that I am sure many are wondering :D |

no, no, no. you need to read again- i said ENROLLMENT fee. We can talk about the monthly fee after you fill out your application and go through the approval process. I will need your account info for automatic draft. |
I understand that Wes. Having to see what services will be offered before the small little pocket change enrollment fee.
When we enrolled our daughter in Daycare we knew what we were getting before hand. It wasn't a big surprise. :D |
