5.0 4.6?
im tryin to do a v6 to v8 swap so looking for all the necessary parts.
It almost seems you could by the whole car cheaper?
you will need the complete drivetrain. engine tranny and rear. the v6 had different tranny's and rears. you will need an 8.8.
If your going v8 a carbed 5.0 could possibly work with the t45 tranny you currently have but you would want to beef up the rear to a 8.8 minimum. I'm not sure if the motor mounts would need adaptors or not. Do your research and decide which would be cheaper and more reliable. also keep in mind that an engine older than your model year vehicle is illegal (federal law) to be swapped into your car and street driven. My Blazer will need an LS1 or another 4.3 v6 if I want to sell it or if I move to an emissions state. |

I have a 2000 gt you could buy.

The list is this: Engine Transmission Rear End K Member for whatever application you decide to run Custom swap headers Custom tranny mounts/crossmember Custom driveshaft needs to be made An ass of odds and ends too you will no longer have gauges that work, so you will have to buy other gauges (auto meter) to have funtionability. Im doing my swap with more race that street in mind, so I have a lot of other expensive shit that im doing, but those things listed are just the basics to make it happen. |

This would be a smart move |
well how much would you want for the 01 gt?
My bad I meant 2000 gt.
conversion would be way expensive. how about putting a turbo on the six? i don't know it it would be cost effective or not but a thought maybe.

really???
well how much boost would the v6 block handle? an i was thinknin of maybe putting the t-bird supercoupe supercharger on it, cause it had a 3.8

so about how much power would that give me?
More. ;)
Talk to Jimmy/Perm. He has a bunch of work into his Superchicken. Not sure what kind of power it makes; but it does move out pretty well, for a heavy car. |

oh okay. so if i were to put that supercharger on it what all would i need? an do you know where i could get upgraded cams for a 3.8?
http://www.supersixmotorsports.com/
This will give you an idea. Also, I don't think that the heads are the same as a sc. You could get the entire sc motor and swap it in. Hell, you could get the entire car for around 500 to 1000. (junk ones but complete) Take about 600 pounds out of the mustang, put the sc motor in and have some fun.:gears: |
so where would i be able to find one that cheap?
so does a thunderbird sc have an 8.8 rearend that will bolt up to the mustang

So should I just get an 8.8 out of a gt or put the irs on my car?

Go find an 8.8 at LKQ out of gt or cobra and go from there. Some of the older tc's had 4 lug 8.8's as well. But they are 4 lug and the hassle for you the convert would be pointless.
Try carolinarides.com again and search. People sell 8.8's all the time. |

I would find the 8.8 out of a mustang.
okay thanks. so yea i was lookin on craigslist an i couldnt find any sc around here does anyone know anyone getting rid of one for cheap or where i can buy one just w/o a title or somethin?
alright well i found one on carolina rides for $500, its an 89, but its an auto, an my curret mustang is an auto should i just get this one and keep the auto trans? just seems like it would be cheaper and easier to keep the auto
Hey man- you are going to spend more to do the swap than you would spend just buying a used GT. Not to mention your swapped car wouldn't be worth jack shit on resale.

A modded SuperCoupe doesnt even run 8s....ask Perm! :hysterical: |

so would it be a bad idea to do the swap? jus cause im only 17 an jus my insurance if i bought a gt would be like double an some
Just having a MUSTANG is bad for your insurance premiums. It doesn't matter if its a v8 or v6. I say be happy with the v6 and save your money. Honestly, It will not burn a hole in your pocket. Put the money towards education and have all the toys you want later.
go with a turbo set up. easier on the internals and doesn't take horespower to drive like a roots blower. and i am sure v6 mustang insurance is cheaper than gt or cobra. cobra is high as shit for me and i am in my 30's. that is why i didn't buy one.
but turbo set ups are exspensive as hell
Just buy that GT and sell that v6. Don't do the swap in my opinion.
Why do an engine swap into a vehicle when you could accomplish the same thing by just buying a vehicle with the stock motor you want in it?
To me this is a useless swap and swaps IMO should be unique. |
i agree with chris, I would just find a stang w/ the engine i want and make it my project car.
