erratic oil psi - hi mile 99 Mustang GT

dad's, the one in my garage pics.

engine has ran great for ever, we bought it ~130k miles, prolly 150 on it now

went to move it out of garage yesterday, and the oil gauge went up to normal, then bounced low, and back high, and low again,

and he shut it off.

any ideas what's up?

do the 4.6 lose oil pumps?
what is the oil pump drove off of?

he has oil changed every ~3k miles, last change was 2k ago,
uses good stuff (he takes his ford filter & oil to a guy)

Could be a bad sending unit. Need to verify that with another oil pressure gauge,

can I change the sender out easy
Or will I have to disassemble stuff

I will have him get 1 from the dealer

Should be an electrical sender...(sensor)... threads into the block usually easy to change

Oil pressure is for suckers.

I put one on a 2000 and it was really easy. My issue was the pressure was nothing until it just went to normal.

Oil pump on the mod motors is on the front snout of the crankshaft. Sending units aren't bad to change at all.
