Illegal odor

I have a issue with the silverado it was a drug seziure and the guy who owned it was a real stoner if you leave the windows up in the truck for more than a hour it smells like willie nelson's tour bus after a show i have replaced the head liner removed the dash and scrubed the ac vents had the seats and carpet "cleaned" by a guy that comes to the dealership and still the smell is there i left the truck out all weekend with the windows down got to work put the windows up then i went to lunch and got a contact high smell don't bother me but WHEN i get pulled over i know they are going to serch the truck and bring in the dog and i don't want that any help on how to get rid of the odor other than replacing the seats and carpet ?

Replace the seats, carpet, headliner and cabin air filter.....

Make sure there isn't anything hidden in the vehicle first.

The only other option would be to find someone with an deionizer and have that run in the truck for an afternoon. Chances are it will come back though.

Years ago at the dealership they used a ozone machine to remove smoke smell from used vehicles. I can't remember, but I think someone around town had a mobile service that would come and do it for you while at work. Good luck !!

I have torn the truck apart and can't find anything like i said i took the dash out and cleaned all the ducts and put a new heater and evap cores only thing left is the carpet and seats was looking at lmc and found the carpet kit for 159 so now i guess i just need seats or to get them recovered

Grab the Cup holder real tight and pop it out of the console. Make sure there is nothing in there...It goes all the way to the back of the console too.

Change the cabin filter if you haven't done it yet.

See if you can dig up a buddy with a drug dog to make sure theres not a hidden stash.

anyone on here know a k9 unit i can use for a search :hail:

Pleasant Detail in Mt P does a process to take smells away. My dad bought a truck and the previous owner smoked cigars. He took it there and you wouldn't know the truck was ever smoked in.

MARTYROBBINS 02-06-2012 05:52 PM

:bigthumb:ill have to go check them out

98nbmz 02-06-2012 05:57 PM

Sounds like he might of left a present in the truck somewhere.

WWhittle 02-06-2012 06:19 PM

You don't want a K9 to search the vehicle. If there was that much weed in the car at one time that you can still smell it, the dog will definately hit. It will just cause you more grief when you end up having to deal with the dog scratching up the truck.

If you still want to do it, let me know.

minytrker 02-06-2012 06:55 PM

Damn how much weed was smoked in there? :drag2:

Carlrx7 02-06-2012 06:57 PM

at this point, i think there is a stash somewhere in the dash, under the seats, in the doors, or even spare tire. he just hasn't found it yet.
