torque converter

Anybody know where I might be able to find a cheap 02-09 trailblazer I6 torque converter that I could use for a core? Looking to do a small upgrade in converters this weekend while I already have the transmission out. I could be game for a reasonably priced secondhand converter if anyone has one laying around. Thanks in advance guys!

for most cores i dont think they have to be out of that specific veh. i used my stock one as a core when i got the trailblazer converter

BAD BOB 02-23-2012 12:58 PM

oh and i got a stock one here that i might let go for a reasonable price

I was told it had be the identical one, otherwise I would use my stocker as my core.

Thanks man, my only catch is that I really need to have this thing back together by Monday morning.

To get a 4.2 trailblazer converter, at least down here at pt's/blanton, whatever they are calling themselves. You need to turn in a 4.2 trailblazer core. The converters are different dimensionally, the company I deal with (precision of new hampton) charges a 200 core charge.

If Robert knows somewhere to trade in a regular 4l60e core for the trailblazer core then do it to it.

i called george and told him i need a trailblazer 4.2 converter and that i will be exchanging one out of my silverado the told me that was ok but i have not delt with them much . however i will be pricing out a rebuild kit for a 4l60e from them i was gifted a slipping 4l60e so i can get it rebuilt and not have my truck down for to long

Marty. George is a great guy, but he doesnt know transmissions and such, he is still learning the parts and what is what. He wasnt aware of the difference and assumed they were the same. I showed him the difference and then showed him what his supplier was charging for a core.

my 2600 stall circle d was about $425 custom built for my application and with upgraded clutches, etc... if you want, i can get to contact info to you... the guy doing my work up here ordered it for me... it did take them ~2 weeks to build and ship it though

That's not a very good conveter unless you just want slightly better than stock. It's very easy to blow through with horse power.

I had Cameron at Torque converter services build me on with the trailblazer core. It was $300 for it. I like it alot. It flares to 2600 behind a stock 305,000 miles 5.3.

MARTYROBBINS 02-24-2012 09:15 AM

Yea i am going to be rebuilding a 5.3 i got for the truck the one in it has 248,000 and makes some noise in the morning that i dont like so i am going to build a new motor trying to decide what cam to use and going to put a converter in it along with the rebuilt trans not looking to make a strace truck just something fun to drive

and thanks for the info rob i knew george when he was at hoover and and couple of the parts stores but i trust your info alittle more
