First attempt at making a bed

Well the wife said I could have new tools if I built her a bed. Unless you count wood class in highschool where I built salt and pepper shakers, paper towel holder and a cutting board I have never built anything. So we went off plans and I learned along the way. Only issue I had was mounting the side rails to the head board in a proper manner. If you know how to do this please advise. I had to mount them head on as the plans called for mounting them within the headboard for plans without a boxspring so I had to improvise. We went for a rustic look and stained areas we ruffed up with coffee and a stain maker. The coffee made the paint look aged. Then we cleared it. Needing to learn more before tackling our bedroom king bed. Any experience with this in here?

Link to free plans we used.

looks good...but will it fall apart the first time you do the horizontal mambo in it?

Hell we looked at each saying you lay in it first, no you! I'm pretty sure it's sturdy enough to fuk in but like I said I need to find a better way to mount the side rails to the head and foot board.

I dont see any hooks for the restraint tie downs.
