I saw it earlier, can't even imagine what's going through your head

So sad :(

guessing load shift

but it could of been other things like horizontal stabilizer jack screw failure locking the aircraft bank angle.

engines looked good, no flames or signs of shelling out and they sounded like they were at max upon impact.

very sad...

Wow that's terrible... Looks like it just straight up lost power.

Looks like it was on initial climb and lost power and stalled out.. no recovery

Really tough to watch. I'll be double checking all my load masters work from now on. I been broke at that base before, good old tent life!

Very, very sad event. I don't get emotional over a lot of things, but I've probably loaded that 747 a few times in my career. I don't think there is anything scarier than falling out of the sky in a plane and feel really bad for the crew and their families that were waiting for them to come back home.


Side note:
I wished everyone reporting it would have waited to find out the cause of the crash before pointing towards a load shift. 2T2s are already feeling the heat on this one since they were the last military personnel to touch the cargo (whether it was even 'load shift' to begin with).

-One other thing to note is that these cargo jets (Mil or Civ) take off at a much steeper angle at these airbases, than normal, to achieve a higher altitude before leaving the base's airspace (to minimize getting shot at). So they have less airspeed to play with if things go awry.

I agree, Bagram is challenging for a big jet like that. The upload had have been hefty. Looked like the engines just ran out of thrust.

Terrible for the families involved. I wonder what vehicles were in it? That stall was weird looking

Supposedly 5 MATVs @ about 26K lbs a piece. It's not really an unusual load since we started loading those on 747s around '09 or '10.

I saw this thread and thought it happened again. I was in Afghan when it happened and there were a lot shocked people and a lot of comms blacked out.

So the Crew was the cause of there own deaths. Sad.
