Ouch. Should be able to be repaired. I don't know who to get to do it, though. Abby's fixed a friends Trick Flow head that looked worse than that one.....

I've fixed worse. Aluminum is very forgiving.

the aluminum that holds the guide in place is busted up and gone. that could be a problem unless its welded up, machined properly, new guide installed/ reamed. then the seat needs replaced and what looks like an expensive valve. the springs to retainer fit looks weird to me and so do the locks. but they will need to be replaced but there is just something about the top of the spring that looks weird.
the CNC work looks like it misses spots all over the place so I have to wonder what the intake port volume is in the first place. its possible it is 210 and they are selling a $1000 215cc port. or maybe the head has alot of core shift and port flow could be all over the map to me it looks like you could have an easy $1000 into a set of heads that if not repaired properly could end up costing even more money in the future. its easy to weld up a chamber and replace a seat but it may not be easy to repair the guide area. why no guide plates on the heads? I would pass. That's my opinion |

After some reading it doesn't look so bad, but the guide area also scares me. I sent some pictures to AI to see what they would charge to fix them. I can get them for less than $500... I just don't want $1000 or more in them considering my options open up at that point. |
Just got another message from the owner, he said there is already a new guide in the head, but the guide area has not been fixed. Makes me think there is an issue with it and that may be why he is selling...

next I checked AFR 210cc head with a 2.08 valve only flows 9cfm more than AIs stock head with a 2.0 valve. interesting |

Those edlebrock lt1 heads are garbage.

Matthew,
Less than $1k to replace seat(s), do any welding, grinding/blending, etc. + the typical $495 Performance Rebuild which is CNC'd valve jobs, blending, valve grinding, milling, cleaning, assembly/setup. *At this point I would need a couple weeks before I could really get into them. *Shoot me an email in a week or two if you decide to drop them off. *Thanks! -Phil Advanced Induction - Cylinder Head Development |
if he could get you put together for under 1k and the heads were 500, thats not a bad deal. (including new valves and stuff)
|
That's what I was thinking. I'd still need rockers and an intake so I'd be in it $2000.
