fuel system question

So I am trying to figure out how I want to run the fuel system for my ls swap. Looking to shoot a 200 shot to it and be around 600-650hp, my original plan was to run a fore fuel hat with two walboro 255's then run my return setup using the stock ls1 rails and a c5 corvette fuel filter. But, would it be better for me to sump and baffle my tank and run a large external magnafuel pump?

i would try to run a cell up front. keep a stockish system on the motor.

You could consider the Walbro 450 instead of dual 255s. Plus it's e85 compatible!

What do you mean?

I plan on going turbo at the end of this year, so I don't really want to build the fuel system around a nitrous setup.

I would run fore hat, return style. They make adapters to take -8an to stock fuel rails. Then i would run a separate system for the nitrous/fuel. I run these pumps in mine. Not too expensive and they flow good, and are e-85 safe. 2 of those will flow enough to easily handle 700+

im sorry i forgot about the mustang having the returnless system... i was going to suggest maybe just swapping to a 255 intank and adapting the stock lines to the ls1 rails, but i dont believe thats going to work.

i would still consider a cell up front for the nitrous. can run pump in the tank and race gas in the cell if you'd like.

well that throws it all out the window. lol build a big system.

^^ got that right. Overbuild it once, or spend way more money down the road replacing stuff you should have started with.

+1 for 450 a fore hat.. those sumped tanks are a seperate pain if you plan to drive it regularly.

slowgreen99 01-20-2014 02:07 PM

Why is sumped a pain?

RoadconeTuning 01-20-2014 02:16 PM

gotta keep an extra careful eye on the fuel level plus it always seems like trash gets left in there since people like to rush when doing it themselves. with the fore hat you're less likely to have trash in there since you're not hacking a big hole in the tank.

He already has the fore hat, might as well use it. Keeps the tanks stock appearance also. If i did it over i probably would have went with a sump.

Why are you going to put nitrous on it when you know you are going to turn around and take it off?

X2? I drove a sumped car all over creation.

BigdaddyDupree 01-20-2014 10:55 PM

put a bigger fuel system in it then you think you will ever need. Thank me later

slowgreen99 01-21-2014 12:32 AM

Why not consult with someone who has that setup. Bad Bob rings a bell. Sumped tank and all.

LXtasy 01-21-2014 10:50 AM

Another vote for sumped tank here.

RoadconeTuning 01-21-2014 01:45 PM

Sounds like a sumped tank is the way to go without question based on this group

03SVTCOBRA 01-21-2014 02:27 PM

I still say keep what you have. Already have a fore hat and the pumps to go in it why not use it. Sure a sump works, but so does the stuff you have so why sell it off just to buy more stuff. Like i said i would rather of done a sump, but that fore hat and the pumps you have are plenty for what you want to do, and if you want more later then its a easy pump change away.
