Total Destruction of Viper by Chrysler Corp

http://youtu.be/WWVPon6YxH0

Reason behind the destruction of these cars..... The two that I had to destroy came from schools in the area's auto shops. Chrysler Corp removed these cars from schools across the country because 1 student supposedly stole one from a school and was killed in it. I don't know how true this stands but I can tell you that a rep from Chrysler was there to verify the destruction of this car and to make sure there was not a salvageable part left. I am unsure how many vipers are to be destroyed. I was told each state has a few or so.

Looks like they are cleaning house.

RoadconeTuning 03-12-2014 01:20 PM

i'm kind of surprised they are trashing them and not keeping them in a warehouse instead.

BIRDMAN 03-12-2014 01:29 PM

I don't know how it is legal to GIVE a something to a person/organization and then suddenly take it back to destroy it. It wasn't on loan or anything as far as I know. Must have been some very small print back then..

BIRDMAN 03-12-2014 01:30 PM

Oh I just read (on youtube) that the cars were still "owned" by Chrysler...gay. I fkn hate them.

1SMKN99 03-12-2014 01:38 PM

I cant believe they are just straight up destroying the cars. what a fuckin waste.

ForceFed4g63 03-12-2014 01:42 PM

I heard something about the insurance cost was costing them millions of dollars a year. My question is, why didn't they just auction them off?

exactly, they even said one of the cars was like the fourth one made and was a prototype that wouldve fetched $200K+

BIRDMAN 03-12-2014 02:25 PM

I'm guessing they weren't allowed to ever be sold by DOT which is why they were donated in the first place. Regardless it's still stupid that they crushed them.

RoadconeTuning 03-12-2014 03:34 PM

yup, no vin numbers so they cant be sold. BMW uses non vinned cars at the performance center and crushes them when they are done.

DIGGLER 03-12-2014 05:20 PM

people sell cars with no titles all the time.... i think its just wasteful. donate them to the school, pass on all ties/legalities and be done with it. if the school sells them for profit awesome.

at one time a milkman went door to door delivering milk in glass bottles. he picked up your used ones so they could be USED AGAIN. not anymore, now we throw them in the garbage. boy times have changed. why do we throw away so much shit?

Because now we recycle.

It's chryslers cars to do as they please. There's much more important things to worry about.

Vin numbers. Not titles.

A car may be sold without a title but the car still has a traceable and registrable vin number.

These cars never were issued a vin number, there by it is illegal to sell them.

schardbody 03-12-2014 06:30 PM

You can sell them for offroad use without a vin. Just like building a sand buggy or rockcrawler and selling to your buddy. Or am I wrong?

I think its Chrysler trying to get some press.

Isn't that how the car's in the GM Heritage collection were? Or did they have vin numbers and just weren't able to be titled?

...then its wasteful to not put a vin tag on them. bottom line, they are crushing perfectly good cars that are still worth a bunch of money.

Silver-Dollar 03-12-2014 08:50 PM

It started off as scrap metal, ended as scrap metal. It is just a car after all.

DIGGLER 03-12-2014 08:55 PM

imo, they should be donated to the schools. (if they are at a school) if they had a vin tag, they could sell them for ~$30k and that would be money for the school.
instead, they are being turned into $900 worth of scrap.

None of the new COPO Camaro's sold by Chebby have a VIN#. From my understanding it is so none of them can ever be on the street (legally).
