Flexible dipstick question
With all the added tubing underhood with the turbo kit there is just no room / way to route the stock dipstick into the hole it needs to hit in the oil pan
SO.. I was thinking about a flexible dipstick http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku Any one have any thoughts on this? Anyone used one? |
Got one in my classic car. They are a nice item, easy to install (easier than a solid dipstick tube) and function well.
Consider where the upper part mounts and the amount of bend you'll need. Happen to have a pic of the area you need the tube to flex? |

Not much room to work with..
Suppose a Lokar dipstick would work? Maybe a aluminum tubing bent to your needs (longer than stock). Use a dipstick from a truck and then trim it down? A little welding and you could make your own bracket. A lot of work for a dipstick.. Headers: Tig welding, header wrap and a jet hot coating would be a killer combo.. Got a nice car there ! :bigthumb: Suppose radiant heat could make the brake fluid boil ? Headers look close to the brake lines. |
I am going to redo the brake lines as well. Just one more thing on the list...
The headers when rebuilt will completely re-route / mount the turbos in different locations. AS it is now the passenger down pipe has to come off to get the passenger valve cover off. NO Thanks! So if this can last me till cold weather again I am going to rebuild the headers. I'll probably build them here at home, tack everything with a small mig and take them to have them tig'd. I am building my own powder / ceramic coating set up now so I'll be able to coat my own parts.. |
Header wrap on a daily driver can actually cause the headers/metal to rust underneath it.
The lokar product you posted will do you just fine. |
Plug it and dont run one at all. I change my oil about once a month so unless you have some bad leaks, what the hell..

yeah dude- no dipstick needed. i have never run a dipstick. just change your oil when you are suppose to and you are good to go. if it is leaking oil, then fix the oil leak.

i did run a dipstick once. it was at dorchester and he was driving a slow ass green mustang. :) |
