That was funny. I have never seen them Dyno any other car before. Had they, they would prove that no car has claimed horsepower at the wheels. Also, Mustangs have never been known as corner carvers.

wade w 09-23-2009 10:18 AM

What a dumb ass. No body told him it would not make the same at the tires as it would at the crank? I mean really a 50 hp drive line loss is preaty good.
And all of the crap about the suspenion he was spewing. What a dumb ass.

s14.5gonewide 09-23-2009 01:07 PM

they were allot harder on the vette.

Yea one of the shows hosts purchased one of the first Ford GT super cars, and was so disappointed Ford finally took it back to shut him up..

clubracergt1 09-24-2009 06:44 AM

Yeah, but they gave him another one.

Illusions 09-24-2009 06:50 AM

that show doesn't like anything made in the USA. they are european nuthuggers and only like exotic sports cars.

Didn't Shelby say he was using the live axle because people use the car for the dragstrip. He didn't want independent suspension like the 99-04 Cobra's

Yea they made the plain vette look bad. They tryed to talk smack about the ZR1. Then just sat there and said how great it was. I did like how they made out like the plain vette rode so bad, but the guy in the ZR1 said it rode like a dream. I would think if anything the ZR1 would be stiffer. I say again dumb asses.

You have to admit, though, most of the stuff they pick on is true. And Ford's official stance on IRS was that it would be too expensive. Instead, they put that money into engineering a live axle that worked very well so we can all benefit from it. Not just the GT500 guys.

Clarkson ripped on the Lightning too. Well no crap it doesn't handle like a VW polo in the alleys or get gas mileage like a Ford Ka. It's a fuggin truck! Brits know and appreciate trucks like we, Americans, understand/respect cricket.

I worked with brits from Jan-Jul...those guys are cool on most subjects until it comes to 3 things:

-Sports (they absolutely hate 'American' football and Baseball. Rugby and football is the only 'real man' sport on this planet...besides gay ass cricket)

-Beer (They diss our beer and whiskey...which they got a point on the former)

-Cars (owning anything bigger than a 2L compact doesn't make since). They liked seeing pictures of my Evo..but still thought it was too excessive.

No doubt I gave them shit in return for being such twats about cars/motorcycles (give a shit about petrol prices). My car penis was mightier than theirs(trump card). For that, they were forced (by man law) to respect moi. One of them was buying a 500cc cruiser bike when they got home. I was like "Woohoo...try and keep the front tire down, you queef!" One thing I can say is they have a helluva sense of humor. Very crude like us.

So on the subject of automobiles...they are on a different wave length. They know shit about our infatuation for speed.

Don't get me started on Canadians, though. We are 1,000 times more like brits than fuggin canucks. Even the Brits hate Canadians (North American Frenchies).

1) Every nag of the svt he had, was true. Did you see the play in the stearing wheel? Really? that turned me off from it alone. Even if it was just his model or what have you. Plus, it was for sale near the town he drove it in. It was to prove a point, it does not belong in that market.

2) Of course they rag on us in the US. You've seen them hit the vette and hit the porshe? If you spend the same ammount, you want a complete car, not a fast gas guzzler that weighs a ton. We have some dam sucky cars compared to what they get. IE: the g8, holden commadore, vaxhull vxr8 is a wonderfull car.....it never was an american car, but its amazing :P

just saying, you dont have to hate them because its their opinion......and what do they say about opinions......

whatever floats your boat

if it blows your skirt up, it tickles the hell out of me

should of put the IRS in it:?

The people at top gear are a bunch of hypocritical dumbasses that like to bash on anything american.

No I dont. He did not know what he was talking about. He tryed to say they lyed about the HP. But he tested RWHP not at the crank. He made a big deal about the solid axle. when it didnt really make a diff. They compare them to cars that cost a lot more. They even tell you that. How is one guy going to say the ride in one car is very bad then the other guy says the same car rides great. As far as the plastic bumpers. Thats just stupid. There 5mph bumpers. Its a law.

You mean that brits don't drive around in jacked-up 4X4's with super swampers? Tell me more...

The steering, handling and braking of a lightning was better than any truck I've ever driven. It was like a very big car. Mine didn't rattle or make noises like his. The build quality is very good.

The show is entertainment, I get it....just don't agree with some of the trumped up criticism they use to prove the point. If they reviewed your G8 and said that it had a disconnected steering feel, brakes that faded backing down the driveway, rattling interior and was an over weight pig...just for dramatic effect, would you agree?

Did I read that wrong or did you just call the Vette "a gas guzzler that weighs a ton"? Please correct me on that one. If you are implying that the Porsche is the lighter, more efficient and a more complete car for the same money as a Vette.....well....I am going to put a bookmark with that comment and save it for another day. I'm hoping that it was a typo.

^^^^ Aren't those all basically the same car? We don't get the G8? So you got yours through the Grey market?

Every country has sucky cars. And this is the millennium. We can now get most of those cars that were hard to get prior to this decade (Opel/Saturns, STis, rebadged Holdens, Lotus,Evos, Skylines, M-model BMWs with true euro engines, flag ship model Porsche & Ferraris etc.).

And my point is that the average Brit (hell..the average European) doesn't want/can't afford (through taxes) a V8 car that weighs close to 2 tons.. Most prefer a sub-2.0L (1.6-1.8L) car that weighs 2300-2600lbs. Nimble and sips gas.

Maybe you are confusing Aussies with Brits?

Negative. I am really perplexed as to why you even quoted me.
It's going to take a beer to undo what you just did. Thanks.

They eaither get the cars they test from fans or the companies themselfs. Unsure where they got the svt. I am only speaking of the svt, not the KTR.
Its a shame if the steering is not true. He did prove that it did though, maybe a bum svt....who knows?

They reviewed my car, had no complaints really. Its quite odd because they hate vaxaul's sp*, along with that, all other reviews said that there are qwerks with it (glove box has sag in it, and flimsy plastics). Top gear said nothing of this.

It goes back to the age ole debate, can a v6 make the same power, and react the same as a big ole v8. How can a brand new sti get to 0-60 faster than my car stock? Its all in the way it was designed. Would I rather have a turbo'ed porshe, or vette? Neaither because its a bunch of 50-60somethings who own them, or its a punk kid who just got enlistment bonus. I am not with that. But yes, the vette is a gas guzzling fat whore

My car: 4k lbs, or there abouts.
09 vette: 3300 lbs, or there abouts.
Thats a bit of a difference, but power wise, as mine sits, i'd tear a vette up stock, and slightly modded. And mine still costs 20,000+ less......

Thats cool man, idk why I quoted you eaither. Maybe I have this deep down desire to want to man sex you with lube all over your hairy body.

Keeps me up at night just thinking about it.....and I dont mean awake.

lawlz, super car? nah d00d far from it

I am rather confident the racecraft and my car handling wise, is about the same if not mine being a bit better.

Lol hahahaha you have got to be shitting me. :hysterical:

Thats a bold statement coming from someone that doesn't even know the difference between a racecraft and a regular mustang aside from their appearance. Not to mention the fact that you can't drive to save your life. I'm planning on a trip to roebling road soon. If you you feel like proving me wrong go ahead and bring your g6 and I'll drag your ass at that too.

'09 C6 Vette = 3215lbs
'09 Z06 Vette= 3180lbs.

^^^ That's not heavy. With all of the government mandated safety crap (Front, side, top, ass, crotch air bags, etc) they did pretty well at keeping the weight down.

Comparison using published HP, Curb weights and MSRP:

'09 Carrera S =$90K-- 385hp-- 3219lbs
'09 Base vette = $48.5K-- 430hp-- 3217lbs

'09 GT3 = $105K-- 415hp-- 3075lbs
'09 Z06 = $74K-- 505hp-- 3180lbs
'09 GT2 = $190K-- 520hp-- 3175lbs

'09 ZR1 = $104K-- 638hp-- 3324lbs
Carrera GT = $440K-- 605hp--3043lbs

2009 G8 Gt = $32K --361hp-- 3995lbs

To call the Vette a "gas guzzler" would be admitting that your heavier LSx car is even more of a "gas guzzler". My buddy's '07 Z06 gets in the 30's on the highway with that waaay overdriven 6th gear. My 2.0L only gets about 23-24mph on the highway. Shit..I don't even think a Porsche can crack into the 30's.

Yeah..maybe hang with/edge out a base C6 vette in a straight line w/ your blown G8.
But if your encounter utilizes the steering wheel and brakes, stick a dick in your butt---your fucked. That's where the extra money goes. Your supercharger, plus suspension, plus BBK,wider tires, plus serious weight reduction will eat into that $16K difference with a quickness.

And I have a bigger hard on for Porsches than I do for Vettes...but the truth can't be twisted.

Americans can and do make good cars/trucks. And that's the bottom-fucking-line-PERIOD/DOT
