I WAS TOLD NOT TO ICE DOWN YOUR INTAKE. BECUASE IT COOLS THE CASE AND HOUSING...AND NOT THE ROTORS BEING A DIFFERENT METAL....CUASE THEM TO SEIZE UP

Ka-Chow 06-11-2007 01:33 PM

I don't know... what frank says makes since but I dont think the ice will stay ice for too long on these trucks after a couple of runs.

SVENSONJR 06-11-2007 01:37 PM

THE ALUMUINM WILL COOL FASTER THEN THE STEEL ROTORS CUASING IT TO BIND OR SEIZE UP....BETTER TO USE YOUR ICE BOX....AND THE DRY ICE IDEA IS OK BUT YOU CANT SEAL THE TANK...IT WILL MAKE A BOMB...EVER MAKE DRY ICE BOMBS WITH BOTTLES??????

chrisheltra 06-11-2007 01:42 PM

I put ice on my upper plenum Fri night with no problems. I dont see how that thing could cool down your intake fast enough to seize rotors. Its no worse than turning your truck of in below freezing days.

I WOULD JUST BE CAREFUL....WE BOTH NEED ELECTRIC FANS AND WE WOULD BE SET

Mike 06-11-2007 02:34 PM

I have seen a ton of people use ice on their intake with no problem. Chris I don't think you would have a problem using that. What Frank is saying may be true, but I haven't seen it happened yet.

I still think our best bet is to use your inter-cooler box with some fans run off a generator. I'm sure the fans would not cause any problems with cooling everything too fast.

Have one fan pointed at the motor and the other at the heat exchanger.

I would say do it. It couldnt hurt in the summer. Dont think you wil need it coe winter though.

slow94 06-11-2007 02:59 PM

that probably wouldn't hurt, but a bigger intercooler reservoir with some ice in it would probably do better.

slow94 06-11-2007 03:01 PM

those two little lines going into the intake will probably cool it down too :!:
