WTB: muffler for the eclipse. Stock or what not
 

I need a muffler for this car. Has no muffler and it is annoying and no back pressure sucks. Wanting to see if it will help fix part of the emissions code it threw

most the time a muffler wont affect any emission code. they are usually due to insufficent converters or and O2 sensor

I understand that. Right now the car just dumps fuel. o2's are fine and cat is not clogged.

Car just falls on its face below 3k. Unless that is the way all imports are.

Its not really an import, has a chrysler motor

Seriously, thing is slow as shit and I figure without a muffler it could be a reason for it.

I don't mind the car, but hell this has to be the slowest thing I have ever owned besides. And I have owned a 93 geo metro with a 3 cylinder.

Lol. I have mufflers like that to put on but rather not waste a "decent" muffler for this application

Having no muffler isn't the cause of it running rich if your o2 sensors are fine. I'm assuming you have the 420a, if so, they are slow as balls so don't be surprised. Why don't you just go to the junkyard? I believe LKQ has at least one 420a right now.

Forcefed. Maybe we can meet up one day and have you and your dsm guys take a look at it and give me pointers I suppose.

What would cause this thing to run rich? Only "mod" is no muffler and the tailpipe is black and it will make the bumper black but it washes off.

Sorry, I'm used to the DSM websites lol. The 420a is the non-turbo 2nd generation motor for the eclipse Same motor as in the neon and a few other chrysler cars, it's actually a chrysler engine. I'll be glad to help if I can, but I'm not nearly as familiar with the 420a as I am with the 4g63 (the turbo motor). I know they run pretty rich from the factory, but it sounds like yours may be something else, have you thrown any check engine lights?

it does hiccup in the mornings when I am leaving the neighborhood. But when it warms up it is fine.
