Engine stall
My mustang sometimes tends to shut off when i press in the clutch and press the breaks when comming to traffic lights or in traffic but only somtimes. It also sometimes does it when in nuetral and the engine is revd. Does any one know what could be causing that.
It used to do it pretty often in the summer when ever i ran the ac but now its starting to do it without the ac or heat being on. Any input as to what it could be would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |
does it misfire before it stalls?

No it doesn't misfire and the spark plugs were changed recently
slowgreen whats a tps sensor |
could be a vacuum leak or maybe an ecm issue
|
check the throttle position sensor
idle air control valve might be built up with carbon inside which will cause the car to stall and idle low |

Thanks guys
I'll take a look at it tomorrow after work |
Try cleaning the throttle body throat right around where the butterfly just about seals off the opening. Take off your air bypass valve and clean it out, too.
Over time, PCV gunk can build up around where the throttle butterfly sits on its hardstop screw. This restriction to minimum idle airflow starts to give rough idle and shutting off problems when you have your A/C on (more air needed to maintain idle speed with the compressor drag). Make sure your battery is disconnected for about 10 minutes before firing the engine back up after the cleaning regimen. This will erase any adaptive learning the PCM has done in connection with the dirty throttle body. Undetermined results may occur without resetting adaptive memory. |
forgive me its my on stupidity for not mentioning it, but the throttle body was changed about 1 month ago and if im correct about the placement of the tps that was also changed.:hide:
I should have said that to start with sorry also the iac was changed when i put the blower on although it is a used one and could be clogged. The car though has been doing the same thing b4 and after the changes off and on so im going to take the iac off and try to clean it and see if that helps. thanks guys and i will keep you posted |
