Great for drag racing....Street driving could be difficult.

DanDB64 01-18-2010 11:28 AM

It's a street car at the moment, it wont be a drag car until I get a Windsor in it, which will take a long time and a lot of money for me to have built on what I make right now...

1iron 01-18-2010 11:32 AM

That stall on the street will be no problem. Mine will stall 4500 on the break and its fine as a street driver.

DanDB64 01-18-2010 11:34 AM

Alright cool. I just need $500 more to buy it... I about have to cancel my trip home to get my car running

I think an AOD with a good converter would be better for your current set up. That c4 is a great piece and the stall will not be a big issue but an AOD has overdrive and a lower first gear which would be better for a DD at your power level.

And I can always sell it when I need an upgrade in the future. I think I'm gonna find me a cheap AOD

Go pull one at LKQ for under a 100.00 and let Gearmesh build it!

DanDB64 01-18-2010 01:36 PM

Have a guesstimation on how much it would cost?

Transmission you can buy for I was wanting to say for around 65.00 torgue convertor? Gerald used to be able to build for around 700.00 to 800.00 range. PM for accurate pricing.

He is the only one in this area. I would let rebuild my transmission or rear end.

DanDB64 01-18-2010 02:15 PM

Excellent. Thanks a lot for the help everyone

Chillerman 01-18-2010 08:09 PM

Just send Gearmesh (Gerald) a pm. He will tell you all you need to know. All he needs is a good core.

gearmesh, inc. 01-18-2010 10:48 PM

When looking for AOD cores, stick with the 1989 to 1993 Mustang cores. The Mustang valve bodies work the best with the Transgo HP shift kit and will give you WOT shift points in Drive around 5700-6000 rpm depending on how efficient your converter is and how much power you are feeding it.

I still have the core that I bought from Chillerman a while back with the shifter and TV cable setup. I got it for $250 then and that's all I would ask of it now. It is a known Mustang core and the numbers on the tailhousing tag verify a Mustang application.

I try to pick up known Mustang AOD cores when I can. They are getting harder to come by as the years go on.

This is a hell of a deal. I would talk to the owner and make an offer. Kevin is a good dude, if you are short $500 he might work something out with you.
