Universal revs up another 'Fast and Furious'

Universal Pictures is hitting the accelerator on a fifth installment of "Fast and Furious," currently being referred to as "Fast Five."

Studio has closed deals with Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, director Justin Lin and producer Neal Moritz to return to the franchise, which has become one of the studio's most lucrative.

Diesel and Walker sat out the third chapter in the series but returned for last year's fourth installment, which was the highest-grossing "Fast and Furious" film and Universal's top grosser of 2009. Its box office haul was more than $350 million worldwide.

Chris Morgan is writing "Fast Five," marking the third time he and Lin have teamed for a "Fast and Furious" film. The story finds protags Dom (Diesel) and Brian (Walker) as fugitives being pursued by relentless lawmen.

Lensing will begin later this year for a 2011 release.

Original Films' Moritz has produced every film in the series, beginning in 2001 with the "The Fast and the Furious."

Universal's Jeff Kirschenbaum and Franklin Leonard will oversee the project for the studio.

As long as it keeps making money they will continue making the films. If people aren't going to the theater to watch them or buying the dvd's then that would be the end. But until then I think they are here to stay.

Everyone just needs to come out of the closet............ You know when the first one came out you ran to the theater to watch it. There are a select few on here that Quote lines from the movie as pokes or jabs or indication of stupidity....

We all know you've seen them and can choose the one you like best. hahahahahahaha

We all know that you can tell a new release of F&F is in the theaters when the mass quantities of fart can's and rice are seen blistering the streets and revving at the theater's.

Just let go.............. Think of it like this, at least its better than "redline" and one of the few automobile related movies left out there.

We need another F&F, we need something new to call fake and make fun of Neons............

I enjoyed the movies. I thought it was funny when the first one came out and people would have tfatf parties. Then a couple of months later those same people are hating on the movies after they seen it a million times...

i slowly raise my hand. i have seen them all. if for nothing else they actually have some nice cars import and domestic in the movies. yes they have some gay shit too, but they girls are fun to look at as well as the cars..

Im not hating on the movies I actually like the ones that vin diesel and paul walker are in. I just wonder how many times that can do the same thing diferently.

i miss movies like two lane black top, and american graffiti, the old speed vision lost drive in theatre. i am sure there will be another smokey and the bandit at some point..i mean they remade the dukes of hazzard

The first one was rice and started the whole movement while fake, it was entertaining. The second one in Miami Sucked. The third one tokyo crap, scared me away from the 4th one that I eventually watched and liked due to all the american muscle that was in it.

all i have to say is that charger is BAD ASS! can do a wheelie and smoke that tires past the 60' and was that it in the last one doin a wheelie on DIRT? OMG
