Not really sure. I mean I don't wanna put 10k into it.
|
Well figure out your budget and we can give you some suggestions.
|
|
I guess around 2k.
|
iron gt-40 heads, possibly a cheap stroker kit, rpm air gap intake, and research a cam...id go with something in the high 500 lift range should make decent power for a starter engine
that should leave you a few dollars for odds and ends |
you can buy a ls1 to put in for 2K, lol

what happened to the V6 'vert?
i would get on carolinarides.com there is a guy on there with LOTS of ford junk & used parts, hes on Criagslist too. his ads are one HUGE jumble of run on sentences. remember: the cheaper it is, the more FUN it is. the more it costs to put it together, the more it costs to fix it. look at Wes's post about his $3k wheelie last week. more cheap = more fun. if you are slow enough, we could have fun with the mustang and the nova. just get it together & enjoy it. don't get all bent out of shape about how much HP. just have fun. PS: put a LSx motor in it..... |
Do you have a $2000 budget for the whole car or just the motor? If you have $2000 to spend on the rebuild only, I would do what WTFWSAT said. If you have $2000 to spend on the whole project, I would just do a basic rebuild and spend the rest of the money on exhaust, gears and a decent carb.

Looks like BWelch has the right idea. Or... As was said before...
Put one of these in it: http://www.zorly.com/images_corvette...7%20L%20V8.jpg |
Get a cheap 347 and hunt around for some heads. For what you want I'm sure some out the box Trick Flows or AFR's, or even some old Canfields or Edelbrocks would work great.
I have a nearly brand new .040 forged piston motor with PBM/Erson 200cc aluminum heads in my 1970 Mustang coupe I'd sell you. I'm not giving it away, but I'd let it go for a good deal.... It's got about 5 miles on it so far.... |
