it happens alot. 1st gear gets the tires rolling. 2nd gear gets the rolling faster (speed wise) and the smoke rolls out.

yeah, i was telling him the tires i got from Hal SR were not hooking,
and he said 1st gear won't get them hot enough,

to start spinning in first, bang to second and bring the smoke off them the first run of the night.

then just bark hard rest of night going into lane.

i like 2nd gear too! but my clutch hates it! lol

The problem with radials is that there is a fine line between "sticky" and "greasy".................. You will have to find what your tires like. Some tire compounds only need to be cleaned off and a little heat (with the proper suspension of course) and some radials love to be boiled for 5+ seconds and yield great results............

A bunch of things come in to play besides compound. Track prep, tread depth, tire temp and tire pressure. Radials are far more finicky than a straight up bias ply slick. Even having said that; I'll take a radial any day of the week for stability on the big end of the track.

x2 :bigthumb: I like the way a radial feel on the track. In my experience one good decent burnout of the night keeps followed by quick ones the rest of the evening makes them perfect. Especially if you trailer it there. But I agree with other variables also.

ex-zachary what shawn said.

i trailer it.

i pretty much did this last week, did one mild burnout & hard spinning launch,
and the next run was a new best for the car.

so plan to try the 1-2 burnout next time.

i go 1-2 then pop 3'rd right before i roll out of it, seems to be working fine for me, im on a 325 radial

tire speed in a burn out is the most import part.
