8.8 and c-clip eliminator question

ok those running the 8.8 with disc brakes. What are you using for c-clip eliminators?

Suggestions?

I run Moser axles and c-clip eliminators.

BAD BOB 12-21-2010 02:40 PM

must be going fast to need eliminators

I have strange stuff. Went together easily. I had a problem with the seals in the elims not fitting the axles properly. Strange shipped me two new seals, no questions asked, and didnt want my old seals back. So for the customer service alone I recommend them.

I used Strange parts...the paper gaskets worked the first time around but now i use the gray high torque silicone...no leaks.

When I called strange the guy I talked to was a prick so I went moser. And.buddy got me a good deal with them seeing that he is/was a moser dealer

I've checked online for the parts but I can't find any for the DISC brakes just drums. Is this something you need to just call and ask for?

No, we will never be fast enough, just dreaming. Plus never know if I get a tail wind and the track is running downhill with a 25% slope and being towed by the RCF, :)

stock disc brakes = c clip eliminator :hysterical:

BAD BOB 12-21-2010 06:43 PM

only problem is stock disc brakes do not count as c-clip eliminators at the track per the rules. It might in the "redneck nationals" but not at a real track.

3 serious answers here and the rest is BS. Typical CHP, sometimes I wonder why I even bother.

Under NHRA general regulations 2:2

Axle Retention Devices
All cars except Stock and some ET cars as noted in Class Requirement must be equipped with a satisfactory means of rear axle retention minimum .120 inch aluminum or .09 inch steel bearing retainer mandatory. Stock C clip axle retention prohibited as outlined in Class Requirements.

Section 5A ET

Aftermarket axles and retention devices mandatory on any car running 10.99 (6.99 in 1/8) or quicker with locked differential.

thats how we roll! most of us aint certified NHRA

WTFWSAT 12-22-2010 11:00 AM

Are you using the stock disc brakes? Do they have the emergency brake on the inner part of the disc? Does the caliper bracket bolt to the inside of the flange or the outside? Im running aerospace rears and my bracket is sandwiched between the elim and axle flange.

This might apply to the broke ford theory since its got an 8.8:hide:

Darryl Buckner 12-22-2010 01:21 PM

Gerald welded 9" end tubes to my 8.8, so I use standard 9" 4 bolt backing plates and bearings and bearing seals, with Aerospace rear discs. I think he did the same thing to Harry's car also. No leaking eliminators.:bigthumb:

bwelch 12-22-2010 01:25 PM

From the looks of things you might have to buy some aerospace brakes to be able to run a c-clip eliminator

so I guess yal put a cage in the blazer?

And why do you cry about some joking around answers? Go to the s10 boards where people must have no sense of humor if you know the outcome of a post on here.
