MSD 2-step up and running..

Well after some advice from a few people, I got the MSD installed tonight in about an hour. Hope to test it out this weekend. 3500 is to much for the street, but maybe at the track with better tire's she'll hold. Looks to make around 3psi more at the same RPM.

First is light throttle, then a couple full throttles.

thats great. hope it works well for ya, it did on my car. its cool that at the same stall speed it can make more power, and you must of not took any time before ordering one bc that was just the other day. how much was it?

Foose04 01-21-2011 11:23 PM

Yeah Bob, I've heard it from a few guys, all good things so I figured what the hell. Summit, I think it was $229. Plus I had a few summit fan dollars to cash in. Thanks for the info though and part number.

fo sho good luck wit it

What stall do you have?

Foose04 01-21-2011 11:38 PM

Chris it's a Circle D triple disk, 2c stall 3200-3400. However, with the turbo I can stall it up to around 3700-3800 footbrake. I was "told" 4k would be possible with a transbrake, but i'm guessing higher then that.

Gotcha. Nice choice. Circle D's perform very well.

stop by the house anytime my truck is out there,

i have a LOT of convo tubing/flex loom, and we can cover all those wires coming off your battery posts.

looks good. were out behind my house tuning it tonite?

It looks like a nice unit. 2 steps help out quite a bit.

I noticed the bungee cord on the dipstick, how bad does it blow out? What's your PCV setup?

chrisheltra 01-22-2011 11:36 AM

If your dipstick blows out pull it and put a boat plug there.

Lol, it's never blown out. But I've seen a few turbo cars burn to ground because it has, just don't want to be that guy. In my case the oil would be on a direct path to the turbine housing. I run a open filter on each valve cover.

I understand that completely.

why not run a catch can setup? you could run 2 an lines of each end of the valve cover. than you would know how much blowby or when you have an issue.. i belive my moroso catch setup has a visible tube that allows you to see..

never thought about a 2 step on a automatic.. always figured stall and footbrake would do the job.

i assume its activated/deactivated by the buttons? on standalones its by the clutch pedal and a rpm/speed .. how does the msd one work?

looks like a nice ride.

I wonder where all that came from? No wonder we were always running out of stuff at work.

Lol, thanks I'll have to stop by and get them covered up. There's no question it would clean it up some. Yeah Carl is always asking for money when he finds out I did some tuning over there on his "dragstrip" road. Between my talon and truck, I wouldn't want to know how many pulls I've made out there.

Speaking of that, I likely will be making a couple pulls tomorrow morning before I head to Carolina Dragway. I'll keep the cut-out closed so you can sleep in lol.

chrisheltra 01-22-2011 09:35 PM

What road? I need a real world dyno.

Foose04 01-22-2011 09:43 PM

It's Stoney Road off Ladson. Wouldn't be worth a shit to actually race on, but is good for a 2nd or 3rd gear tuning pull as it's only about 1.5 miles long, tree's on both sides, no driveways for cars to pull out and you can always tell if traffic is on the road with you. However go after around 6PM as there is a cop that hangs out during business hours right of ladson.

Gotcha, I usually use hwy 52.

Matts94Z28 01-22-2011 10:21 PM

I know about that road... we used to have fun out there. Some guy in a blue 350z came out and played around one night back in 05 or so. Quick little car.
