fuel injectors
Im still having problems with my truck. It's down to one cylinder. It was 2. but Ive had to replace the insert several times in that one cylinder. So Ive been talking with Frank about his old heads. But I still have another problem to deal with. It melts the end of the plug in that one cylinder when I hold it down long enough for it to go into overdrive. Ive had someone tell me it could be an injector problem. Does anybody know how to check them or have any other idea's. I am thankfull for all of the help you guys have given me before.

Is it the back driver side cylinder? Have you asked JDM what they thought?
I don't know how to check injectors, but it wouldn't be hard to put that injector in another cylinder and see if the problem follows the injector. |
Yes Mike it is the back drivers side. witch is the one that blew the plug out in the first place. I dont want to take a chance on hurting anything else moving the injector around. I cant do anything untill I do something about the heads. The tool that flares the insert is stuck in the spark plug hole.

Wade I bet it's not the injector.
That cylinder is always the problem cylinder. Something to do with the cooling system. Some guys modify the intake with a coolant crossover to provide that cylinder with some cooler water. I would suggest lowering your boost/timing some to see if that helps. Or raising your octane when you do high speed runs like that. |
Ive only been doing the high speed runs to see if Ive fixed the problem. I'll call JDM to see what they have to say. Thanks

Wade here is a good thread about the coolant mod.
http://www.nloc.net/vbforum/gen-2-li...mage-pics.html I hurt my motor last week from running too much boost with not enough octane in my tank. I haven't got the motor out yet to see the extent of the damage, but I am hoping that it's limited to the head gasket. |

I looked at that link Mike. Id like to see how they do the coolant cross over. I guess Im lucky it hasent caused that kind of damage. My plugs that come out of that cylinder look a lot worse.

If you look at page 3 or 4 it shows what Bob did to mod his intake. He basically welds a hose fitting on the driver side. Then tees off the heater hose on the passenger side. |

Plugs
Wade that back cylinder is the lean cylinder like Mike said When I just put the plugs in Daryls that back plug was open the most about .050 I'm trying less gap on that cylinder because I can get to it with the Whipple on. I want to see it the .028 setting slows it down JDM said it is the problem bank really. You can touch the injector and feel it working( That doesn't mean it is spraying right though. I have old fuel rails and pumps we could rig up something pressurize it and make it fire with a switch on the bench and compare it to a working one. Mitch

Also when Daryls burnt off we think it was bad fuel. all the plugs that time looked nuts. Mitch

just want to thanks. I dont know what Im going to do with it. To tell you the truth it will probably sit for a while. Ive got some other things I need to get paid for first.

Your truck is Silver and I've been told about how fast they are, but they also eat spark plugs,,,,, and coils so good luck. Hope you get it fixed soon. It put down some good time for the amount of mods. |
