Thats pretty cool. It's good to see I changed a few people's mind on the little v8. It's been great so far for my "abuse". Hell it hit 98k miles yesterday while yanking the boat up the ramp. I just change the oil in it and it keeps firing up, couldn't ask for more.

I have a 04 siverado with a 4.8. Its got over 150,000 on it and I havent even changed the plugs yet. It only had like 24,000 on it when I bought it so Im sure they are the original plugs. Its bone stock and slow, but I do love it.

I've always ran a hallmans pro, manual controller. Works great.

Same one I had on the Eclipse, never any issues, I know a lot of very high HP cars are running it too with no problems.

I have a s-10 now that I would really like to put one in with a turbo. But I dont know crap about EFI or how to go about putting a turbo on one.

You can just flip the manifolds forward. I'm using ebay stainless shorty headers. Bad bob can make the crossover pipe and the downpipe.

If you dont mind Im going to ask some questions. You have to stock computer right? If you were building something that did not come with a LS motor would you use a aftermarket set up or just use a stock ecu? I guess Im asking is the cost worth it for the benefit. How do you go about picking a turbo? There is a guy I know around here that build his own rear mount set up for a lt1 camaro. I thinking about talking with him about that. Just seems like it would be easier with the limited space in a s-10. Do you know of any major draw backs for a rear mount set up? Thanks.

chrisheltra 07-06-2011 07:20 PM

The biggest draw back to a rear mount that I know of is turbo lag. Im no turbo professional however so take my advice with a grain of salt.

Im with you on the not knowing what Im talking about, but I think you can minimize the lag with proper turbo sizing. And for what Im wanting to do I dont think it will be much of a problem.

I'm running a stock ecm with a stand alone harness. The stand alone harness is $400 or you can make your own out of a stock harness.
