Lightning guys....

Theres a guy at my mothers work who has an 02 lightning, its bone stock. He's looking to get another 50 hp out of it. What pulley/tuner would you recommend?

Thanks

6lb & a Tune from Randy.

Randy, when you are doing these tunes, how do you monitor the Air/Fuel ratio?

Randy took me for a ride in his truck Saturday night. Frankly, the truck frightened me.

Did the conversation start with "Hey Bo, watch this" and end up with 45mph rolling burn outs?

WTFWSAT 07-18-2011 06:28 PM

Randy, what do you charge for this? Will he need to purchase a sct tuner or the like? PM me the info if you want. Thanks

It's more economical to purchase a KEG.... I speak from experience!

He was deviously quiet. We slowed down to about 15-20 miles and hour, no warning he just mats the thing breaks sideways back and forth and he holds it past at least 60-65 MPH it never stopped spinning. I was concerned. He was like "yeah thats the economy tune" lol.

Mike said 6lb, that would be the lower pulley correct? Or what upper? And which sct?

xcal 2 or 3 dont matter, we don't typically do uppers. If he goes 6lb he really needs a maf if he goes 4# he should be ok without a maf, but 6 is the best bang for the buck.

WTFWSAT 07-18-2011 08:05 PM

Randy, do you have a number i can have him contact you at?

You can get most bolt on trucks really close by datalogging the commanded fuel and load, for simple bolt ons once you get the maf calibrated corectly sitting in the driveway theres not much else to do because it will alwayse get you your comanded fuel unless you run out of maf. If youre getting wild with the tune i usually use an innovate handheld or my aem wideband.

If you have the normal basic bolt ons and someone tells you that you need a dyno or a bunch of garbage to get it right then they know nothing about lightnings and are trying to take your money.

DolSVT00 07-18-2011 08:20 PM

BTW I wolnt tune a 6# lower without a maf upgrade, anyone that does it is looking for trouble and if thats what someone wants to do, take it somewhere else I wolnt touch it.

Good advice here!
