time for new laptop

my dell 14z has its ups and downs, but im looking to upgrade to a more efficient and better laptop.

so what is the latest and greatest processor and ram out or going to be out now or in the next couple months?

im looking for a 15" screen, latest processsor, and 4gb of fastest ram, with a dedicated graphics card. nothing extreme as i go through laptops every year or two.

:cheers

p.s. no Macbook's! HPTuners wont run on it and I'm not going to restart my laptop every time i need to open a tune file.

pretty sure i saw either a toshiba or HP at best buy the other day with an i5 or i7 in it and a stupid amount of RAM and a graphics card... i didnt pay too much attention though since im not really in the market right now... if im not mistaken, i7 is about as high as you can go on processors right now and should do more than you need to do

Havent been really keeping up because my laptop is still kicking well after 4 years but I will say either get XP or Windows7 for an OS. Screw Vista!

Carlrx7 08-04-2011 06:48 PM

can you still buy vista?

chrisheltra 08-04-2011 06:49 PM

Not sure but I hated it.

I would stay away from hp. Asus, Toshiba and maybe Sony are nice.

X 1000

2nd gen i5 & i7 processors are the latest greatest from Intel.

Earlier this year I bought a Refurbished Dell off of Ebay for $340.

It's got all the bells and whistles with an i5 processor. So far it's been great. I think the model # is Studio 1558.

If you buy a macbook and run a partitioned hard drive, why would you have to restart your cpu? My wife has a Mac at work and jumps between Microsoft OS and Leopard OS all day w/ out shutting down the cpu.

Why would you want to go through all that? I had a macbook once and it was a slow piece of shit and only worked for 2 years. Windows 7 ftw!

oh, i assumed you needed to shut off one os to use another, hows the battery last running two OS's?

whats wrong with HP? im looking at the dv6tqe , 2630qm quad core, 1gb 6770 video, 8gb ram, 750gb hd. 1200 something after adding the little things..

does the support suck or the quality shit? but they are also giving away a free xbox 360 to students!! what?!!? hello .edu email address. lol

In my experience with HP, both quality and support sucked.

I can't comment on Dell support since I haven't used it, but I'm sure it's outsourced like the rest.

AverageJoe 08-04-2011 08:44 PM

Dell customer service is excellent, Toshiba- not so much.

Go through all what? You open a program? I'm curious when you had this said Mac? I would put my four year old Macbook up against any 4 year old PM configured the same way.

Are you a retard or do you just like talking to people in India? I have tried to use Dell's customer service twice for my mom's computer and always felt like someone kicked me in the balls and then gave me a Slurpee.

The battery life is excellent. My laptop is 4 years old and I can still get 5 to 6 hours straight out of it, unless watching movies then its more like three. Their customer service is fantastic and you always get an American to help you in phone tech, or you can just take the whole CPU to the Apple Store which is their best asset IMO.

If you ever wanna swing by and take a look, I can show you my Macbook, my wife's Macbook Pro, or her Ipad.

I didnt say their support was good, but dell is quick to ship out replacement parts, etc with no hassle.

I am not going to argue windows vs mac anymore. Arguing with a mac nutswinger is pointless.

No, pointless is arguing with someone who's more retarded than Hellen Keller! You are the only person that I've ever met that owned a Mac and made it slow, but judging by your car, I get it.

Soul-less ginger out...

I use a hp for tuning now, went through 2 dells without any major problems. I slow down all my laptops for tuning to get max batt life.

ForceFed4g63 08-05-2011 03:50 PM

It's too bad you don't want a mac, you're missing out!

Edit: To add to that, I have a macbook for everyday use which I've never had a single issue with in over 3 years, not one. For tuning I use one of those cheap little ee pc netbooks. Works like a charm.
