Attn Carl, Bob, any other turbo guys
Where do you have your blow off valves placed? I have read several threads on where and why to put them close to the throttle body, close to the turbo, on the inside of a bend, its ok to mount it right on the intercooler... I am kinda at a loss on this one. I have the VS Racing 50mm bov just like Bob's.. but I dont know where to put it. Mounting it and the waste gate, and final welding the pipes and my turbo kit is complete.. so I need some quick help.

i doubt you will be running enough boost for it to matter. most but it close to the TB so there is less chance to bent the throttle blade. most that run alot of boost run multiple BOV and some on the intercooler to keep it from over pressurizing the intercooler and blowing it up. just put it were you would like

I doubt it's different for V8's but it doesn't really matter all that much. I've always just had it before the TB, but not right before it.
|
Mine was halfway between turbo and throttle body. I don't think it matters much until you start making a bunch of boost.
|
From what I've read, the closer to the turbo it is the louder it is. The closer it is to the throttle body, the more efficient it is.
|
I dont care about the loud part really. I think it will be plenty loud.. I want effecient. I have a good place to mount it I think. Right off of the turbo, I have an ok, place to mount right off the tb... we'll see.

Mine is pretty close to the stock location on my Eclipse. It is approximately 12" - 14" from the throttle body. Haven't had any issues with it venting out 34psi from my 2.5" piping. And it is a smaller BOV than yours I have the synapse engineering Synchronic BOV.

I have a 50mm. I think the loud part will be covered.

over 20psi you want it close to the tb, under you can put it pre intercooler. i have mine on the front of intercooler
