How many times have you heard some worthless employee somewhere say "pay me more and I'll work harder."? Thats not how it works. You do the hard work first and then I'll pay you more. Same for a race track or any other business. Wal-mart doesnt open a store with half the parking lot paved and no inventory and say buy some stuff and we'll finish the rest later? You gotta bring your A game from day one.
That being said I have no idea what makes one track work and not the other. I dont buy the "we need more cars to risk life and limb and lay down more rubber" bit though. Dorchester has had about a million cars go down that track and it still is dangerous sometimes. I dont think number of passes makes a hill of beans without "proper prep". Whatever that means. I will say this though. I feel that sometimes lining the ole pocket with green dollar bills is the ONLY thing that matters to some of these track owners. If they can get through a night with doing zero track prep and not using any VHT or other expensive track prep chemical than thats more money in the ole pocket. The last time I took my car out on the slicks it got loose past the 60 ft and it went hard right. Next pass it got sideways soon as I shifted into second. Next pass I meant damn well I was gonna finish the pass and still had to abort near the finish line. After they saw that frightning pass they shut it down and sprayed the track with VHT. My question is Why not prep the track BEFORE the customers arrive rather than waiting to see what kind of cars show up and then prep if someone about dies or raises hell?
Anyway never been to Midway but I plan to this fall and I do believe in supporting these local tracks.
