i take a wire wheel on a drill and clean up battery ends.
I got a Fluke DVM if you need it.
if the crimp is loose on some wires, the copper can turn green inside the connector, and not make connection, spent few hours chasing that one last week. wire only had connectivity if you jammed the DVM lead down in the wire
