Well, Shawn; it depends on how it was maintained. If you are looking for a Ford truck, anything with a 7.3 in it should basically be ok. There are not too many issues with that engine, and any that do crop up are generally not that bad to repair. Still can get expensive to fix, but not near as bad as a 6.0. If you are looking at a truck with a 6.0 it in, try to find one that is under the 5 year/100k mile mark. This way, you still have some warranty left; and you can extend the diesel engine warranty to 7yr/200k on most of the really expensive stuff.
Oh, yeah, the Powerstroke 7.3 can be found in 1999-early 2003 model trucks. The Powerstroke 6.0 is in late-build 2003s to 2007 model trucks. 2008 went to the twin-turbo 6.4.
