Default First coat of wax...

I cleaned up the camaro today and applied the first coat of wax so I figured I would share some pictures. You can't really tell in the pictures but I still need to line up the front clip and buff the hood out since the clear shrunk back. Plus there are a few odd's and ends I need to tie up. I haven't edited these shots yet so they look some what funny. Here ya go

Well I did 99% of the prep work. There were only a few things I didn't do because this was my first time doing anything like this. I shouldn't say that I painted it I guess... because I did not lay the paint. Although, it only cost me $400 to have my painter spray the car and I hade $330 in PPG clear and I got my PPG base for free.

if the prep work isnt good than the paint will suck regardless of who sprays it. did you strip it of just paint over the old paint?

i have some bubbles showing up in my car and really want it painted but i have no money at all

I took it down to the base coat and did some bondo/fiberglass work with the help of another person and then we sprayed a THICK coat of slick sand on the car. After that we blocked it down with a long block with some 600 and I went over it by hand with 800 and 1000. Here are a few pictures of the process for those who are interested.

Here is the hood I originally bought...

Thanks for the compliments guys! It took me around 6 months to do it considering I did not want to make any mistakes. Of course there are some things that I could have done better/different but it was a good experience over all.

BTW, these pictures are how the car turned out without being wet sanded or anything. It came out of the booth looking like glass. One of these days I will get around to water sanding it.

Sixpack, I can hook you up with my PPG supplier and get you talking with the guy who actually laid the paint on my car if you would like. Bodywork isn't that bad to be honest, it's just REALLY time consuming.

The Racecraft rail kit fit like shit and I got pissed off about it so I ordered a hardwood 3 days before paint. I ended up selling it on racingjunk though so it worked out alright.
