Default Exhuast options

I need help deciding what I will actually run on my car... Let me know what you guys think.

1. True duals?
2. 3in ORY w/ one bullet dumped before the axel?
3. 3in ORY with with a cutout into the stock catback?
4. 3in ORY w/bullet before the cutout into the stock catback. (this way the car will be more than quiet with the cutout closed and I can still open the cutout and have a different sound. It might take some of the rasp out)

I may be DDing this car again after the summer for a short while.

You know I'm going to say 3.

Going from stock quiet to wide open.....you can't beat it. Now that mine is back to DD I'm glad I went that route.

#3 as well.

I actually like a mellow sounding exhaust and not too loud. When I had the mustang I didn't think it was loud. BOY, was I wrong after being in vehicles with a quieter exhaust. Especially on the inside.

I had never met anyone with a cut out on any car until I moved to South Carolina and met a few F-body guys. Seems like thats all everyone wants?

It's quick and easy. I ultimately want TD's but I will get tired of it quick. I hope we can make a bullet fit before the cut out. If not then I will just run the stock exhuast to compliment my stock car.

How much power ( or better yet E.T.) can be gained from cut outs?

I know a few years back at Jackson. I was running 11.0 @ 122 all day. In an attempt to get a 10 second slip; Randy chopped off my stock muffler. I was able to make one more pass, but the truck spun pretty bad. Ended up going 11.2 @ 126. Not sure how much MPH I gained from spinning or how much was from running without a muffler.

I have seen a stock LT1 pick up 6hp with a cut out vs. a flowmaster exhaust. Now when it comes to modded vehicles I really don't know. I wonder if Lorenz can chime in since he has dynoed cars 100's of times. I would assume it would be in the range of 10hp or more, but don't quote me.

with all the shit they make for your car, there must be a dual exhaust kit for cheap made by someone.

my exhaust goes all the way out the back and i think my car is fairly quiet. its cars with side exit or downspouts that seem really loud to me

I can get Robert to do true duals on my car if I wanted, it is possible but the clearance isn't so great. It's been a while but I think the guy who works there on weekends has duals all the way out the back, I just can't remember if they are over or under the axle.

I have seen cutouts make 40+ more hp over weld in flowmasters or stock mufflerts. On my car opening the cutout was good for .2 in the 1/8 over full exhaust. Hard to beat .2 for $200 electric cutout. Of course the cut out is only going to help if your catback is a restriction. My vote is stock catback with cutout.
