Default toilet bowl blues

so alittle background...

yesterday my wife calls me at work and tells me that the toilet won't quit running, so I tell her to shut the valve off and wait til I get home...fast forward...

get home realize the bowl valve is broke, goto Lowes pick up a new one, and head back home...get home replace the bowl valve and when I'm hooking the water line back up to the bowl valve, I remember that it has a slow leak, so I look at it...the bushing is really hard, so I replace it with the one in the kit...fast forward...

wife goes to bed at around 11 and uses the bathroom before hitting the pillow, I fell asleep on the couch...fast forward

2:00 in the morning, I get woken up by my wife, she's hysterical and yelling at me...I'm ready to kill somebody in my house, and she tells me there's water in the bathroom...I run in the bathroom and there is an inch of water on the floor...the water line came out of the bushing and is spraying water all over the bathroom like a firehose...so I shut off the valve and spend the next two hours sucking up water out of the carpet in my master bedroom with our shampooer...the suck...it went 12 feet into my bedroom and 8 foot wide...our master is 22x14, so tonight I took and pulled the carpet back, pulled the padding, and put a fan on it...

2 hours lost sleep...free suck
replacement hose for water line...$3.86
renovating the bathroom on Murphy's schedule and not yours...PRICELESS

that sucks,

I have to replace the toilet valves in my house at least once a year. I think there is something in the water that ruins the valves.

22x14 damn that's a big bedroom.

yeah it's the master so it's the largest, but the second largest room in the house is 15x16 and it has a half bath attached to it...it's the nursery...
