Have you worked anywhere as a pipe fitter welder? I work in a chemical plant and we went through the lay off thing about 6 month ago. work is starting to pick up again and some departments have increased manpower. we have recently started up our second unit which we shutdown a little less than a year ago. So business is starting to pick up again in the specialty chemical business.

I can check to see who they get their manpower from.

I know the city of north charleston was hiring for a heavy equipment operator a week ago. Maybe worth checking into. You have your cdl, are you a lease driver? I work for a freight company, if so I can ask if they are hiring. I know we arent hiring any company drivers due to this economy.

I'm not a fitter/welder. I design the systems.

Pipe material they use is carbon steel, 304L, 316L, 317L, 409L stainless and T6061 aluminum. Since your worked turnarounds at a papermill. You should be able to fit in as long as your good at it.

I'll get you the information and I'll let you take it from there.
