Default Need a cheap SCT X3 tune / flash - they are crap

http://www.sctflash.com/getupdates.php

so....one of these peices of garbage came with my mustang.

so now, i talked to Shaun, he says the Ford Dealer software can not put 4:10's into the ECM

so, i have to run the SCT to fix the speedo...

but come to find out, the SCT comes "empty" from the dealer,
and they dyno your car, and THEN load tunes into it.

so the SCT loader can "revert to stock"

or it can load the custom three tunes your dealer put into it.

so it really does NOT have the ability to change options.

you can just select a few base options, that are overlaid on the custom tune, and you are stuck with it.

so now, i have to BUY A TUNE to put it back to stock, with 4:10's

Sorry, I just discovered that a SpeedCal will not work with the auto trans in 99-up Mustangs. Damn. Was hoping to help you save on a tune. SCT could email you something though, couldn't they? Or... Do they want an arm and a leg for that, too?

I talked to a guy who may have tuned the car originally, he said he will make me a deal on a tune.

i downloaded the 2 tunes in the SCT programmer and sent them to him,
one is the "stock" settings, i guess,
and the other is named "flash" which i guess is the custom tune.

You could buy SCT Pro Racer package, and tune everything your self. If you plan on making future changes to the car The pro racer package would be the best option.....and if you need help with using it let me know.

The X3 should have an option to change axle ratios along with fuel and timing trims. You won't have as many options as you would with the PRP software, but you can still change basic parameters.

ah...see, you did not get the point...

it does NOT give you the ability to change options.

NOT within a stock tune.

you have to "buy" a tune to put in it, and then you can ONLY alter options on that BASE tune...

you can NOT alter options on a "stock" tune.
the only stock setting is STOCK

that's when i about lost my cool with the SCT helpdesk.

how can you sell something, that you don't at least post a usable tune on your website?

go to Dynojet Power Commander website, or FuelMoto....literally HUNDREDs of FREE tunes for their product.

Mike, shoot me a PM if you have the software to create a new tune.
money is not a problem, as long as the tune is RIGHT

No my friend you're missing the point. They come loaded with a tune that is able to be changed (Ie: spark, fuel, gear ratio, fan temp settings, etc), they don't just come "blank". I've had (and currently have one) several versions of the Xcal and Diablo Sport handheld tuners. The only way it would be "blank" would be if it was locked/married to another vehicle. At that point it would only be good for datalogging purposes.

John talk with the sct guys. Maybe there is something wrong with what ever tune is loaded on there that is causing the EPC issue.

hey, shoot me a PM with your phone number, and I will give you a call tomorrow. all I know, i have learned today, and most of that was from their customer service Rep. you seem to know more than he did. I can conference you in, and we can call them together.

i downloaded the tunes from the X3 I have, and it only has two.

and the Customer Service Rep at SCT is the one who said "they come empty, and your dyno shop/retailer will have to load the tunes into it"

He specifically and REPEATEDLY told me that SCT has NO tunes, and they do not archive any, because the retailer has to put them in. that's why they don't have "stock" tunes on their website for you to download.

and that made sense, since my unit only had 2 tunes in it:
stock.lbu
flash.lbu

i can send them to you if you can look at them.

well, it downloads as a filename with a LBU extension, so I can't "open" the tune file to see what parameters are in it.

the customer rep was useless.

i would need that $370 software to edit the existing tune.

Some come pre-loaded. Others are Custom, and only have custom tunes on them. It should of came with tunes from the shop/retailer who sold the tuner. Sounds like someone erased the tunes that were on there. Which is easily done.

well, i was sitting there, with the tuner plugged into my laptop, and reading stuff off the screen to the CSR.

it would SEEM that he would say "download your tune, and send it to me, let me SEE what you got"
