Well last night I was coming home from the dragstrip and threw a P0171 and P0174 code. Bank 1&2 lean. I also threw another one but cant remember off the top of my head what the number was. It was something about air charge temp and it happened right after I got off the interstate. I havent done any mods to the truck since about April and got a dyno tune shortly after so thats not the problem. What are some of the common causes for these codes to come up. Are all of these codes related to the same problem?

Vaccuum leak, been there ,done that....... replace it with 3/8 fuel line and never do it again
Here's my problem thread from when I had it http://carolinahorsepower.com/phpBB2...highlight=#687 I replaced it without pulling the blower too. Start the truck and spray carb cleaner back there and on vaccuum lines to confirm it.

But seriously I think Im gonna replace the o2's and the IAT2 sensor first to see if that clears it up. Im gonna try the easy stuff first. If that doesnt work its time to do your fix. I wonder if this isnt contributing along with "other" problems Im having with the crappy times at the track. |

doubt it, my truck ran fine at the track 8.60's with nothing more than a pred canned tune and street tires with those lean codes. The amber hue drove me nuts though
02's are 45$ea at autozone, good luck with the passenger side front heater on stock manifolds. When I re- done my exhaust I relocated that one so I could get it off if it ever went bad. I have a couple extra 02's left over from were I replaced mine due to the same problem, and found out that when 02's go bad the truck idles and runs like poo cause it would be in limp mode (that was not my problem) Carb cleaner is cheaper than 02's and would take 2 minuites to diagnose. As far as the IAT goes if its close to ambient when driving, its probably fine too (I think you can swap them). Datalog that before buying a new one. All im sayin is....... do the free stuff first,I wasted alot of money replacing things that were not bad. And if its not bad it does nothing when you replace it.

Chris,
I think when my o2's were bad it threw a lean and rich code on the same bank. May not always - just for info. This was after the oil and anti-freeze bath they took. |

Hey Chris are your rear O2's still reading? Did your Tuner turn them off? If not the truck under wide open throttle will sence that the truck is rich readings on the rears will make the front ones lean out that is how the truck is designed from the factory. It will also make a poping noise through the mufflers and because the readings are taken from the throttle position sensor and maf you can have a Mess (Can affect the Trans shifting also)I have been through this. The rear O2's need to be off. Does anyone out there have a good street tune he could run I have a portable innavate air fuel meter that can also datalog and read air fuel while making a pass. Mitch
