Default Ordered 4.0" aluminum DSS Driveshaft

Going back to a high speed balanced driveshaft. My j&c used to
vibe pretty good above 120 and now their replacement they cut and fixed you can hear/feel it last time at the 8th mile. It's to short causing the rear seal to leak and likely hard on the trans bushing back there as well. More wasted money spent on them when they said they could fix it without going shorter.

So with the new trans going in, so is a 4" DSS aluminum piece. It's warrantied to over 1000TQ, said to have the same strength as a 3" chromoly. Critical shaft speed comes in at 177mph, so dyno days are safe again. It's nice to know the shop needs to know your setup to build a DS an then give you its limits.

Might help the old 60s to, my current shaft comes in at 28 pounds. He said this one should be around 16. He said it helps with shocking the tire as hard off the t-brake.

Any case, damn I hope this is my last DS for a while. I'll be stopping at their shop on Friday in NC on my drive to Ohio to swap it out.

Yeah the Driveshaftshop made me one before for my 5 speed it was very nice. They told me about 1 week then I asked if I could pick it up driving thru and they was able to bump up my order. Can't beat that.

Lol on the tag!! Always have a good time up there, but damn it's cold in the winter.

I had a 4" Carbon Fiber Shaft with Cryogenic treated aluminum yokes from PST. The slip yoke weighed more than the whole shaft x2. Did you check them out?

-jeff

All tube yokes are built from forgings specifically designed by PST for our carbon fiber applications. This carbon fiber driveshaft is a perfect answer to long, high RPM applications such as Pro-Stock Trucks and can be engineered for any amount of Horse Power. Years of use by many Pro Stock and Pro Mod teams have demonstrated the reliability of our carbon driveshafts. Many racers experience a half a tenth increase in performance just by going with a carbon fiber driveshaft.

Pst is straight junk!!! My Pst driveshaft broke on the first pass!!! Broke brand new trans, tore up exhaust, fuel lines, and came through floor.

It wasnt carbon fiber. Hopefully you didnt trust an aluminum shaft; that would have been the first wrong decision.

They claim their aluminum is good for 1200 hp or higher I was way below that.

Thats odd because the first thing Mark normally asks is "what is your chassis weight with Driver" before he will recommend a certain DS for anyone.

When I bought my Carbon Fiber Driveshaft, he offered a 3" and 4" shaft. He offered me a lifetime warranty on the 3" but because my car was 3,700 w/driver, he said he would feel more comfortable if I bought the 4" shaft. I bought the 4" CF shaft and would leave the line at 6k RPM w/ a 200shot added instantly off the drop of the clutch. That shaft never blinked. I sent it back to him to have the U-joints changed at the end of every race season and inspected as a preventive measure. He never charged me for anything but the shipping back to me. Best customer service I've ever seen from any DS shop.

I had a Denny's 3.5" HD Aluminum Driveshaft and even Denny told me that Aluminum shafts are not truly meant for Drag Racing especially with a chassis over 3,200lbs. and that I was on borrowed time and he would not be responsible for what it did to my car "when" it exploded, not "if".

Bought a Strange 3" Seamless chromoly shaft but it was so damn heavy, I immediately sold it and ended up with the PST 4" CF shaft.

Depends on length. My CF shaft was $880 if I remember correct. At least a PST was that price. But now he has gotten rid of the 3" and the 4" that I had and now has a 3 3/4" shaft.
