Default Ford tech guys turbo q?

My boss man wants to know how long the turbo lasts on the F350 trucks. he has 100k on the truck and is worried about it.

robert has close 160k miles on his and it runs great. what year is it? a guy my dad knows had 500k on his 7.3 and sold it with just a new tranny

Forever, usually. Just keep the air filter clean, and it should be good. Usually the only way to kill those turbos is to let dirt get around the filter. And, trust me, if the filter is dirty, it WILL pull dirt AROUND the filter. I have ssen them where the front is clean and the back side is all dirty.

Keep fresh oil running through it and it will last 300k or more. You can check the condition of one yourself by wiggling the shaft up and down and checking for end play. If you feel blades touching the housing, then it is time for a new one.
