Default Warning tons of pics. Day at the races.

We went up to shadyside to help a budy with his car. Got lots of pics and thought I would share.

This is my budys car.

Its a 10 1/2 inch tire car. Here are some of the other cars in his class.

Saved this one for last. It was cool as hell. Thought Wess might like it. On his last pass. It started spinning out the gate. He lifted and just went on down the track. When he go right at the finish line he hit it. It spun the tire. (you could see the smoke and lifted the tires about a foot and a half. The board lit up cause he was at the finish line. He was doing 120mph while he was doing that.

Here are some other cars I liked. They also had a 6.99 class and a 5.99 class. And of course some bracket cars.

this car ran on 275 DR's.

this thing was real street car. Even by Mikes standards.

other stuff

We got there a 3 on saturday. Started drinking then. Didnt stop untill like 5 in the morning. Started working on the car and went racing. This was are pit area.

Yea thats the driver lying on the ground. After lots of redbull he was good.

the big guy withthe black shirt thats not working on the car is the owner driver. His name is Travis Hawkins. I knew him when he was a kid living at home with his parents working at advanced auto. He owns his own towing company now.

Here is the racing. Itll show the cars then the times. Ill try not to get it mixed up.

Oh yea. Are sleeping area.

I left a lot of pics out. Mostly racing stuff. Its hard as hell to get a good wheels up pic with a digital camera.

the gto's owner is travis. his car was built at williams where my car was done. it is a street car. he takes out the passenger seat and back seat to run. it is a 427 with a procharger.

what's the draw of shadyside?
when i was little, we went to the Shelby 1/4 mile strip a few times.

that's a lot of big money rigs for an 1/8th

was this a money event?

went to a guys BBQ this weekend in town, has a 1/4 mile rear eng dragster

said his 48ft 3 axle toy hauler was $35k

and he had ~$80k in his car.

does that sound reasonable?
goodness. that's a metric bucket of money.

Thanks everybody.
As far as the draw for the track. The owner just cares. Look in the back ground of this picture. Thats where he lives. He takes care of the track. Keeps the BS out. And makes it fun.

Is that Larry Keys in a few of those pics?

And the black turbo stang is sweet- Ol Guss is the name of it i believe- if i remember correctly, he wrecked the shit out of the last Ol Guss.

Shadyside always has some fast cars. The GTO is most impressive to me though.

Man, there is a very good possibility we knew each other back then. I use to hang out up there on Wade Hampton at his "detail shop". Me and a buddy named Johnathan Hughey. We use to be up there in his red Z28 all the time. There was always 2 girls up there too- one blonde, one brunette, can't remember the names. The guy with the convertible that was pretty fast, the red coupe with the white racing stripes, Jimmy Mantikas, Ryan with the black convertible, etc.

Those were the days.

And yeah- I have recently heard one thing about Larry but i don't know if it's the same thing you are talking about or not......lol

We had the same chevelle back then. It was primered gray and had solid center line wheels. It also had a stock SS hood. I starting hanging around them not to long after Larry got his 94/95 mustang. JR. James Garner had that blue coupe with the white hood. Keith had that red 93 coupe. I cant remember his name but there was the guy with the white supercharged convertible. It might have been Jay. I think it was. And the guy they called stinger. It was a nitrous car.

I like Shadyside a lot it has a good track and usually produces good races on Thursdays test and tune days.
