i think you can call, and they will guestimate the taxes.

if you don't know, you can go pay the taxes now, then go register it a bit later.

my taxes on the Nova were $8.74 in december

it was $89 to register it today at 17:05

had not time to ask why
DMV closed at 17:00

my vehicles in Berkeley county are typically less than $20. But the wifes 04 silveraldo is between $250-280. I believe that is what she said.
Berkeley county is usually alittle cheaper.

Default Depends a lot on where you live

The worst personal property taxes you will ever pay around here is if you live in the City of Charleston. They absolutely hammer you on personal property taxes. Figure on 2X to 3X as much in the City of Charleston vs. claiming your residence in an unincorporated area of Berkeley County.

Typically, if you live within any city limits, you will be paying more personal property taxes vs. living in an unincorporated area in a county.

3 years ago, I made the switch from Charleston County to Berkeley County. My personal property tax bills are about 2/3 of what they were in Charleston County. For those that live in Charleston County, you have the school board there to thank for your excessive taxation. If you live in the City of Charleston, you can thank Joe Riley for your outrageous tax bill.

Dorchester county taxes are just about as expensive as Charleston County, but at least your tax money is going to better schools.

Ok I was wrong. We live in Berkley county not dorchester even though the auditors office is right down the street from me. Called them this morning and they said it would be $100 for the trans am and 125 for the jeep. The jeep is older and has more miles wtf?

Trucks and SUVs are typically valued more than just "ordinary" cars.

Vehicles are supposed to be assessed by their fair market value in order to come up with a tax figure.

Try doing an NADA search for the market values of your vehicles and see what comes up.
