I have a 2000 mustang auto and wanting to convert to a 5 spd. Just wondering how difficuklt it is and what all I need. So far I assume I'll need a t45 trans. Pedal assembly, ecu from a 5 spd, mounting brackets, and driveshaft from a 5spd. Am I forgetting anything?

You may be money and time ahead of the game by just going with a higher stall converter and shift kit in your auto trans. Factory low stall converters are performance killers. Consider about a 2800-3000 stall speed lockup converter and your V6 will feel a whole lot more powerful, especially in your 0-60 time.
Top off such an upgrade with a gear ratio change in your rear end. That V6 with a 3.73 or 4.10 rear gear and stall converter will become an eye opener.

call cameran at torque converter specialties in Columbia. Look through a summit catalog etc. A good converter can range from $200 (used of course) to 1000+ Typically people spend around $350-$450 for an off the shelf generic converter.

Haven't we been through this once already?
My suggestion... Quit messing with the ragtop and build the Fox. It'll be cheaper and faster; and you won't have to worry about your daily driver being down.

You will probably want to find a good tuner to talk to. will be able to help tell you what harness changes to do. Then they will probably flash a manual tune into your pcm. Don't know if those had hydraulic linkage but probly need all that to. maybe differnt drive shaft lentghs to. find a salvage parts car. Its alot of work but Hey its your car.

It's all in what you want the car for. I had a supercharged 02 GT and I loved it. Best out of the car was 7.5 in the 8th. If you miss banging gears go ahead with the swap but if you want the faster of the two at a drag stip stay auto and change out the gears and stall. I would atleast...try that first and see how you like it. -Shane

The best mod you can do to a v6 conv is put full coverage on it and drive it into a tree!

For some reason I'm getting visions of a guy on Fastgm that tore his prelude apart, sold all his stock pieces because he had big plans for it and now he's stuck with junk. He too is 18. coincidence? I think something went seriously wrong with a generation.
