![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() "Combo; stock block and crank. polished the beam and bushed the rods. TFS pistons and stage 2 cam. Victor jr, 650Dp holley and 1 3/4 LT headers. 150 shot of nitrous. This combo was also balanced and no girdle was used. The car had been running mid elevens last couple of years. This year, I upped it to the 150 from 125 and switched from 1 5/8 to the 1 3/4 LT headers. The dist was locked out and a freind helped with some tuning issues. These changes dropped it to 11.0s -11 teens in True Street trim. Biggest problem has been trying to hook up with the drag radials, mostly 1.8-1.9 60' with mid 120 mph on the time slips. I knew once it cut a good 60 foot, it'd make a 10 sec pass. A couple of weeks ago, at a track rental it went 10s. A 10.68 at 129 mph with a 1.63 60' followed by a 1.9 60' and 11.19 at 129 mph. The next pass, about 1000 ft out, BANG. I slowed it down and got off the side of the track, trying not to oil the track down too bad...still went 11.95@79 mph." |

I always believe in the " if your going to do it right " method . This seems to be one of those deals .

I think it might have something too do with the"I had a friend help me with the tune"
Looks like another case of "Hell man, it'll work...I have done it lots of times".... Stock blocks can only stand so much pressure....and, cast cranks can only stand so much.... Just glad it ain't my junk. Steve |
