I want to start a new top dog list. Obviously the old one isn't working at all. Hasn't been an actual TDL race for a while.
I have some ideas, but I want to hear what you guys have to say also. #1 you guys (wade & morey) were right, and I was wrong. I need to keep the race cars off the list. But how do I do that? Maybe something like proof of tags & insurance is all we need. I mean nobody is stupid enough to tag & insure their race car just to be on the TDL. #2 Incentive. We need an incentive to make it more active. -My idea is charge a small admission fee to be on the list. At the end of the season the person who "wins the most races" wins the pot. This gives everyone a chance to win. The top dog wins by staying the fastest, the people below him win by getting faster and trying to make their way up the list. #3 The initial list. Give me some ideas How do you guys suggest setting up the initial list? Maybe some of these big time grudge racers like ; Zak, Bad Bob, Randy, Brandon, Tyler, Jeff, Mike, Dkbmxer, etc.....will join the list if there is some sort of incentive....but also I want it to be for just fun, no grudge racing, no stipulations, just good ole fashion heads up racing. |

How small of an admission fee are you thinking? I dont think it will work so well that way. There could be almost a 2 second difference between the slowest and the fastest. It will be hard to get a 7.80 car to join the list when the top dog is 6.10. How about form a list and set a bet(something friendly like $50 or a $100) to call out the guy ahead of you. If he turns down the race he loses his spot. You have up to 2 weeks to do the race or you lose your spot.

I would also put in the TDL. The home track to be raced at. I know in the past. People would try to make a race at Carolina. They would try to use a 1/4 mile track to their advantage, when the other car is set up to run 1/8 mile. I also think that if someone joins the TDL after it has been established. He should be placed at the bottom and work his way up the list. I agree with the heads up racing! No breaks or stipulations. Run what you brung.

i think the separating race cars from street cars is a good idea. you would just have clarify things for example. street tires or slicks. or maybe no slicks allowed on street cars. some people may not be able to afford getting a different set or rims and tires or just don't want to go through the hassel and in the end it would hurt the list because people wouldn't participate. also some people will never have intentions on being number 1 but would like to be somewhere on the list so if it is going to cost money you should definitely keep it small. maybe post a thread and see who wants to participate and how much they think is a good admission price. just my thoughts

i say every season the list gets jumbled up. if you want more action, i would think pulling names out of a hat and cars all mixed together would create more races.
the race car at top of the list has been under constrution for most of the year so we cant blames Robert race car as the problem no one races. if Robert doesnt have another car to put on the list then i vote the race car stays i am in survival mode financially, i dont have the money for my car hobby right now. a friendly $50-$100 bet is not friendly to me. but i would pay a small fee to be on the list to support the site. i would like to see TOP DOG gets a $100 gift cert at end of each year. that could premote alot of races at the end of the year the faster guys would have to defend themselves. the faster cars brake more often and are more money and trouble to run so a guy with a 7 second car that keeps the pressure on could win Top Dog i would like to see the more popular guys like Matt, Brandon, Kevin, Zac, Mikey, Greg, Bad Bob on the list. IMO, without these guys, there really is no list. my 2 cents

+1 . No use setting the list up unless we have some of the most avid track goers. I wouldn't even see a problem with having multiple cars on their. Guys could put their Tow Rigs, daily drivers, etc.... to make it more interesting. hell as much as Zac wins with his diesel, he would probably take the prize money. |

picking one weekend a month for top dog races and alternate tracks between DD, Bowman, and hopefully Midway would also help support our local tracks and would be like a CHP get together with Food, Drink and maybe strippers

I would say a $10 entry fee for the TDL would be fair.

There really needs to be classes in all honesty Mike to make it fair. 90% of us don't have "street cars" acording to the law anyway. A street car is something that's 50 state legal, and my wife's mustang don't even make that bill, other than a prius or a smart car, there arent many "street cars" out there, thats why we alwayse argue about it and make up our own stips about AC, Gas tank ect. The law is the law plain and simple, you have a "street car" it should be 50 state legal.

Very true, maybe we can just keep it simple....you drive your car to the track? Plenty of trailers local if somebody breaks, and if it's a "street car" it should have insurance that can tow you if it breaks down. I know I've called roadside assistance from the track before.

There are already too many stipulations. "50 state legal" ain't going to cut it. You can argue street cars all day long, but if it is tagged, insured and has working lights, and would not get a citation from the police, it would be a street car in South Carolina, which is where we live and race.
If you want classes, make it cars and trucks. If you want to avoid the list becoming stagnant like it has become, invert or shuffle the field every six months or yearly. That way the fastest car has no guarantee of staying on top, especially without ever racing a single race. |

+1 if you won't get a citation on the street = street car.

#2 your proposed incentive looks good #3 for the initial list draw names from a hat or do something to make it random. After that point everyone has to race to get there standings. The main thing that needs to be stressed for this list to be successful is racing and having fun. Once it turns into a shit slinging, dick measuring contest all hope is lost. Based on your suggestions and pending my car being finished i would like to take place in something like this.

How about $20 bet per race and you take $10 of it stick it in a pot for the end of the season. That means the winner broke even for the race $15 track entry - $15 in gas equals the $30 you win. Then at the end of the season who ever won the most races whens the pot. If we have 40 races the pot would be $400.

I still think 20 per race may be too much. But it may work. |

i disagree to an extent. superman always drive him and his dads cars, his dad dont wheel it. same case with me and my dad. some people who own the car arent wheeling it down the track.

pending my transmission actually working I'll try and get in on this action before we get sent else where. But for the 50 state legal thing, that's just not going to happen. I say make two lists, one for registered vehicles with insurance and another for race cars.
