Tires for a lightning

Whats the best tire for the lightnings???
Nitto NT555 or the goodyear F1?? Thanks Bill

Ive had F1's, 555's and Hankooks and I would take the hankooks hands down over the others. Plus they are a lot cheaper for a set and will last a lot longer. Traction may vary.

I liked my Nitto better than Hankook... F1's are just way too expensive

I like my Hankooks. They are wearing good. Of course you will spin them. I don't think Bill is wanting to do street racing. I am happy with mine. I am sure they will last alot longer than Nitto's.

Morey, i don,t plan to race on the track.
But since my goodyear F1's are getting old i notice a loss of bite on a dry surface or wet surface.
I guess my main corcern do the nitto's give more bite new as compared to the goodyear F1's new. Is the durometer of the compound softer for either one.
I,m not worried about miliage cause i drive less than 6000 miles a year.

You will be happy with the Hankook tires. I wasn't talking about you running on the track. I meant burning them down on the street.

Well in that case the new Mickey Thompson's are the best tire for the rear.

The nitto's will remind you of the f1's and wolnt last, the toyo's are plastic and will last forever, hankooks are about the same as toyo's and have the same treadwear rating of 420. Nitto's have a 300 like the goodyears.

Dry traction is iffy with toyo's or hankooks, they are like plastic and hard, wet is great, mainly because their tread depth is huge.

Learned something interesting the other night at a Hankook/Tire Centers class/event last week. You cannot compare UTQG ratings between manufacturers. Found out that every tire manufacturer has their own 'reference tire' and that this is what ratings such as treadwear and traction are extrapolated from. As a result of this, treadwear and the like, can only be compared within manufacturers. Unfortunately-Goodyear, Toyo, Nitto and Hankook are all made by different companies; and, as such, you cannot-reliably-compare treadwear/traction ratings between them. Either way, a ZR tire is going to wear reasonably quick and garner you decent traction. Of course, when throwing 400ish lb-ft of torque through them, no tire is going to work all that well, on the traction front, unless it's a DR or slick.

I was much happier with the Nitto 555's than the Goodyear F1's.
