Default 215 on a DRAG RADIAL!!!

On a mutha fucking DR!!!

It appears as testing has went well for Dwayne and crew today. With a Job Spetter tune Gutridge ran a insane 215.72 mph. The other incrementals were not too shabby either. The one area that will need to be improved upon is the sixty foot time which came in at 1.30. The power of the 390 cubic inch small block came to life at the 330 clocks running a 4.79 at nearly 160 mph. Once BD gets a better 60-foot this ride is going deep 6's for sure and that's no joke.

There are lots of cars that would have already run in the 6's if they could get the car to front half. That's alot of power to try to get to the ground without wheelie bars. Most of these big time radial guys are making 2000 or more horsepower at the end of the track.

with the 114mm and the 315 radial i am suppose to be. time will tell i guess.

they are reaching some pretty unsafe speeds at this point though. the drag radial cars are heavy. can you imagine a crash in one of these heavy ass cars at those speeds? your on the edge on a radial to begin with. I hate to say it, but i predict someone getting hurt real bad or killed this year in a 1/4 mile radial race. they need to keep that shit to 1/8th mile.

Thats a very good point. Never really thought about the weight of the cars. Whats the "weight rules" this year? Isnt it something like nitrous cars can be 200 lbs lighter or somethin like that anyway?

yes- nitrous cars can be lighter this year but in the 1/4 mile it won't matter anyway. a nitrous car will never be able to make the power of a turbo or blower car and still get it to all work on a drag radial with no wheelie bars. maybe someone will prove me wrong, who knows.

the weight of the cars+ the speeds that they are running is just simple physics. alot of people have the same opinion i do, but there are also some die hard 1/4 mile guys that don't agree.

i hope that it doesn't take someone getting killed for it to be looked at very hard.

everyone thought this new chassis cert was going to be the problem solver but i can tell you that it is nothing but a couple extra bars in the back of the car. i don't see it doing too much in a 200mph crash.

i will go ahead and tell you now too- i have rarely found times when i was nervous enough to lift in the 1/8th mile (new car might change that) but i will be damned if i am going to do some of the stupid shit i have done in the past and take a chance of wadding my shit up at 200+mph.

Me, Daryl, & Jeff talked to him back in '04 at Bristol. He seemed pretty cool especially considering what he had to do that day......I think someone protesting his motor combo, and they were making him pull his heads to tech his car. He seemed alright then, but I guess people can change.

ETA I hate to guess at anymore. I can tell you that the building part is just about done and it's being disassembled now with just the odds and ends being finished. I think i am suppose to go get it next week and take it to the painter to paint the cage, inside the car, engine bay, under car, and all that. I need to call and check on it actually. Realistically i say mid march i should be testing. After the painter it has to be reassembled, wired, plumbed and wrapped. My rear wheels won't even be here until Mid February. I got the fronts in one week but the backs are double beadlock and take 8-10 weeks.

He might be a great guy- I am judging him with little info which i probably shouldn't do.

They are in Bradenton. Testing for US Street Nationals this weekend.

I talked to ProLine today (incase you didn't know, he has proline power) and they said he had to pedal the car and still went a 7.04 at 223-224mph.

Crazy stuff.

I dont know you (personally) but I like you because your not arrogant about how fast you were or are or how fast you are going to be or how fast you plan to go. All I can say is somebody is going to die and I hope its not you.

Good luck and god speed.

I try not to be a cocky bastard because i hate those people. I do however catch myself being an asshole sometimes in the grudge world and have to get myself back in check. That's part of the reason i am trying to get away from the grudge game.

it won't be me thats killed because i will draw a line when it needs to be drawn. I have a wife and 2 boys and that is most important. My interest has always been 1/8th mile anyway, so i might sit out the 1/4 mile stuff.

Another update- Hance went 4.70 at 180mph in the 1/8th on his last pass. That is craizier to me then his 1/4 mile MPH. I also saw where he posted that the car is on edge on the big end of the 1/4 mile and he was a little nervous to get back in the car. That says a whole lot right there, the man also drives a damn ProMod.
