Before I go into the night I'll start with saying you never know when you have good people around you till you need help. Then those "friends" can be hard to find and I was blessed last night. I want to give a big thanks to some local guys for helping me out, mainly Marcus and Brandon. I'm not even really close to these guys and they just helped another racer out, so thanks guys.
On to the evening, made a few good passes last night at Darlington. Street tune/19psi boost went 6.75/104 and 10.52@129 which was a old best on nitrous and 72mm. Had a weak 60" that pass and found a traction bar that had be knocked loose, likely from the boat last week. Got it fixed and turned the bottle to come at 5k-6300. Truck dead hooked and felt strong. Went 1.52 / 6.62@105 and 10.34@130.9. At this point i'm feeling pretty damn good. They make last call to lanes and I decided rush in one more pass. I knew there was more in the 60" and 10.2's to follow. I went with 100 more RPMS's on two-step and selected the bottle to come on at 4600 instead of 5000. Only problem with my plan was I selected 1K RPM knob, not the 100 RPM knob. I left at 4300/20psi, bottle hit at 4600 and a rear U-joint F' you, i'm done. I knew something was wrong as I watched the last yellow light up and I let the button go.... Got it home though and for a lot less out of my pocket then I planned for went I accepted this day would come. Lesson is, if you rush you'll make a mistake. Shame I broke the truck, but I'll be back.
