Default Truck Tuning/PM Advice

If it's not obvious I'm not the most knowledgeable person when it comes to working on vehicles.

So here's the thing, I have a 1993 Silverado Extended Cab with 211k miles on it. As it seems it will be a while til I can think about upgrading I need to make this truck last.

While I have some dough from selling parts I want to do any preventive maintenance I can on it. I thought about doing a full complete tune up, replacing spark plug wires, dist cap, rotor, all filters, O2 sensor etc.

But the fact is the truck runs really well, starts fast, no skipping, bogging, hesitating. One thing is, the "Check Engine" light comes on periodically and then goes off. Advance Auto can't read it cause it's OBD I. I don't know if it's one of those automatic thing that is mileage based or if there is actually a specific cause.

The only other thing is that it seems to use more fuel than it should, it's not outrageous but I'm sure it could be better.

So, I could do an overall part replacement, things like filters should be done I'd imagine but spark plug wires etc. I don't know.

Any suggestions? Btw, it's a 5.7L TPI.
