Cool Any thoughts ?

I am getting concerned about a TSB on my wifes 03 Heritage series F150...its for the cruise control and its the pressure switch on the Master cylinder...Shaun Messenger @ Jones told me that it was a parts support problem in that the subcontractor or Ford ran out of parts ... and will let me know when its good to go ...

Here is the rub ... FOMOCO says one thing, other out of state dealerships say the same...never was a parts support problem ... " who told you that ? Give us a name ... " Which I did not ...

So, now, TSB is out, the problem isnt fixed, I feel shitty cuz this plays with my wifes safety...

This link may help answer any questions. I have had mine replaced on my Lightning and the biggest thing I hear is that it may cause under the hood fire!

Ahhkay, I understand. Thanks Morey for that link as I have it already printed and with the paperwerk for this TSB ...

Will have to go ahead now and pay out for this ... which is understandable with some background issues still lingering ...

Okies, thanks !

Stay on them. Talk to the Service Manager if you have to, but do not take "we'll call you when the parts come in" as an answer. Take the time to write a nice letter to the Service Manager regarding the TSB and your concern for your family's safety.

If something happens (Heaven forbid) you will want it documented that Jones Ford/FoMoCo dropped the ball, not you.

Let me know if I can help.

edit: I misread it, I thought the TSB was still in effect.

Cool

Thanks for the input snake, I do admit to making the mistake of trusting what I was told @ Jones ... I am going to suck it up and pay out ... but not at Jones since I am now a pariah at the service writers desk ...

Dave, that is just what they are told. SO they relay the message on.

Dave,
I am genuinely hurt by what you have said in this thread. The recall (05S28-for those who care) was put forth by Ford Motor Company after investigating vehicle/garage fires involving Ford trucks. The issue at hand was with the cruise deactivation switch leaking and the wiring catching fire. The resulting repair is to install a fused wiring harness inline with the switch so, if it were to leak, it will blow the small (2 amp, I think) fuse in the jumper before it can overheat the wiring and cause a fire. In all actuality, many Ford products have been included in this recall as well.
There IS an issue with the availability of the jumper harnesses to complete this recall program. The interim repair is to disconnect the switch until parts become available. On the availability of said parts, the latest news-released today-is that the kits for some cars is being shipped as seed stock next week. The truck kits are expected to become available end of 2nd quarter, '08. Please understand that "seed stock" means that very limited quantities of these jumpers will be automatically shipped to dealers as parts are available.

Back to you, Dave->
I tried to help you out in avoiding the "inconvenience" of losing your cruise control by telling you what to look for and where. If you are concerned about your wife's truck catching fire, stop by Jones at any time; and we will disconnect it for you. Also, if you do not believe what I have been telling you about the parts, I will happily put my ass on the line (I could get fired over it) and email you the entire recall bulletin from Ford. Don't think that I am ignoring you, or that I do not care. You are a friend. I am planning to pull aside a jumper kit as soon as they come in to fix your wife's truck. Please know that we will likely only receive 40 or 50 of these in the first shipment (impossible to know for another couple of months until they are released), and we have disconnected hundreds, if not thousands, of speed control switches. I tried to help. I am still trying to help. Come to me next time.

~Shaun

BTW: Any of you can come to me with anything Ford related. If I don't have the answer you need right away, I can get it. Anything.

That is all. Thanks.

Snake, the "TSB" is still in effect. It is actually a safety recall which has no expiration date.

Chris was lucky enough to get in early when parts were still available.

And, I told Dave that-if anything happens, if the recall was not performed (even the interim repair) Jones Ford and Ford Motor Company are NOT liable for any damages resulting from a fire. Call me and I can explain this further, if needed.

DON'T MAKE ME THE BAD GUY HERE!!! Call Ford's customer service line at 800-392-3673 if you want to bitch.

~Shaun

Your not the bad guy here Shaun. As you can see by rereading, I placed your name there as the point of contact I had made. You can only repeat what you are told and reiterate what information is disseminated down to you. No misunderstanding there with that...

What seems to be obvious to me is that so many other FOMOCO places will stab another in the name of being better than the others ... so much for internal comradre' ... hence they didnt get that info from me to rub in Jones Ford face ...

Please do not placate me by grabbing one of those harnesses when they become available. Its not going to "salve over" how I feel about Jones. NOT YOU SHAUN but JONES FORD. I am not going to have you in the middle of it as your a faithful employee.

All that I am determined in doing is taking my Ford business out of the Tri-county area since the quality of customer satisfaction takes a backseat to maximizing profit ...

Fair enough explanation Shaun. I know you by your screen name but I didn't realize you worked at Jones.

My post was not an indictment of you personally, but rather on how to deal with a defective product involving safety and the perceived stonewalling by an automobile manufacturer.

I agree that Dave should get the switch bypassed until the new harness comes in, whenever that may be.

I understand completely, and did not take what you said personally. Sorry if I came across that way. I just wanted to jump in here early and nip this in the bud before people start holding dealerships responsible for something that is Dearborn's mess.

Thanks

Precisely, spot-on, my point...its not Shaun...

Most will have proper transactions. I am the minority that has not and has to go out of the box.
